The climb up San Juan is technically easier than Lower Sam Merrill, but a lot longer. i had a lot of fun climbing this ride, it's totally worth climbing

Yeah, I agree, the SJT is not quite as steep, but does go on a while longer. I did SJT on my ss a couple times when I was used to riding my ss,but now I'm slower then snail spit on it. I still love that trail though.

According to Evil Knievel San Juan is actually muddy. This was his report after riding today.

Dean do you think anything up in the Santa Monica Mountain would hold up better? Maybe Strawberry Loop?

I think San Juan will be fine. I've ridden there after the rain it holds up very well.

All day today and tonight without rain should allow any muddy patches to dry up. Let's check it out. If it's too muddy we'll opt for a Plan B.

I rode the full length of San Juan. The switchbacks were pretty muddy but the most the trail was fine. I could tell on the way down the ground already soked up some of the water on lower san juan. Should be even better tomorrow. I have no idea what chiquita/viejo is like.

After cocktail rock on the way to viejo it was very wet, but its mostly rocks so not too much mud.

Go for it boyz

PS: PO will be very abundant, as I think I got a little bit on my knee from my fall

San Juan is going to get hammered with tire tracks . I hope all you riders are going to hike it with shovels next weekend .

Just got back. Well, technically I'm not back yet I'm at my sisters. The trail had no ill effects from riders today. There were only a few puddles and they were easily avoided.

What a great ride today. Good group. The SS'ers kicked arse. Good call Tom.

A big thanks to the spotters on the boulder. Great catch! I took a bad line and stalled at the top on my first attempt. Second time was the charm.

Despite the dire predictions of trail carnage, it was fine.

Happy Easter all.

Very cool pix of the RockRoll!!! Now, how come we didn't think of having spotters there when we rode that trail? I think we were all probably too tired to think of such a genius idea. Next time I think I'll give it a go if I can have some spotters.

Great to hear the trail wasn't all hammered either!

I wish I had the strength and time to finish with you guys. Although Easter dinner wasn't to shabby. Just what the doctor ordered.
I called my wife and got a signal so I just had her bring me some clothes to my sister's in Tustin, so I didn't get everybody mad at me. Worked out great as I got there before my wife did. I don't ever remember riding up there that slow, plus some of you guys are freekin rabbits.

Default Hell's Kitchen

I'll second the nyet on Hell's Kitchen. My stomach hurt all night from the food there. I have to laugh, Mike ordered a BLT sandwich, when it came, it was missing the L and the T. Two pieces of toast and a load of bacon. mmmm. On a positive note, our waitress had a nice booty.
