Default Snow Summit Sun June 22

Due to there being no Gondola access at Mammoth this weekend, I bailed on that ride.

I still need my lift acessed riding fix somehow, so I decided to ride snow summit. Cooler, high altitude temps, and minimal climbing are a plus too.

Where:
Snow Summit

When:
Sunday June 22.
Meet in the parking lot 8:30 -8:45 AM

skill level:
You should be at least SOLID intermediate level rider. Be comfortable with steep slopes, rock gardens, and small drops.

Fitness level:
Are you kidding me? There's a chair lift.

If you going to try your luck and sneak a bigger bike onto the lift then you should probably bring a backup bike that meets all of the following qualifications:

1. Bikes must be less than 35 pounds.
2. Designated tire size must be less than 2.5.
3. Front shock must have less than 6 inches of travel.
4. Bikes must have three chain rings unless they are single speed

Lucky for me, they seem to be pretty lax on enforcing the bike rules lately.

Have fun up there. I rode there last weekend and it was quite nice. A bit dusty, but not too bad. My biggest gripe is the nasty dry decomposed granite. No traction at all in that stuff.

Expect some climbing though if you plan on going west of the lifts (towards town). There's a few shorter climbs to get some to 1E01, Cabin 89, etc. Fall Line is amusingly close to the lifts though. And grippingly fun. First hill I've ever had arm pump on since I switched to disk brakes Perhaps next weekend I'll get up there and just do a ton of fall line runs.

Also, last weekend they were VERY lax on bike regulations. I saw a group of guys with all DH bikes get off the lift once. One had a friggin V10 with a fox 40. Can't get much more DH than that...Luck of the draw i guess

There's a lot of fun DH oriented stuff up there, you just need to know where to look. It's very easy to miss turn offs for trails when you are blazing down the fire roads

I saw a bunch actually, but I wasn't looking all too hard. I was either with my dad (newbish) or by myself (don't wanna eff up an unexpected 4' drop)

I'd like to go roam around with people who know where things are/can ride them. If only this was next weekend I'd be on it like a fly on a dog turd (so to speak)

Maddie & I will be there Sunday too! Now that I know what trail NOT to take her on. We were planning on spending the weekend on the lake but she asked to go ride at Summit too (how can you resist your child asking to do a little DH )
We'll only do 1 run then head over to the lake for some SeaDoo action.

Say hi if you see us

Gabe and I will be there Sunday. I'm sure we'll run into someone at some point. Not literally I hope.

That's great Traci, glad to hear Maddie is getting back out there. I hope you take pictures and give us a RR.
