Ok, I'm not from here so I don't know how to gage the trails for skill level.
The fact is, except for the last month or so, I haven't been biking regularly for 8 years or so. I dumped my POS Exploror and bought a new Tacoma yesterday ( i was soooo due) so can get out of the high desert more. I wanna come do some rides, but I don't want to be a hindrance to anyone. So, when is the next STR function or moderately easy ride so I can at least get an idea. Thanks in advance for any help. CraigR P.S. I'm in for the next Hooters outing!

Looks like my poison oak on me is finally starting to clear up. I'm sure my legs will be a bit weak after so much time off and I'll be happy to ride with you or anyone else.
Riding with other rides who are better then you is great at improving your own skills. I think all of us here at STR have learned a little something by riding with each other. Whether it be following somebody to see how they handle their bike or the lines they take, tips on riding, pushing yourself on the climbs, or the subtle motivational speeches before a technical downhill ("come on you p*ssy!) - it all has helped me progress as a rider and I still have tons to learn. We were all newblets once so it's very rare that you get the 'damn, your such a noob and I'm so much better then you' feeling from the riders here (at least the ones I've ridden with). So ya . . . don't be too scared of holding anyone back. Unless we're training for a race, all we're doing is having fun on rides. ![]()

Congrats on the new truck. I couldn't be happier with my '05 Tacoma, sure you'll feel the same about yours.
As for the other, don't even sweat the "hindrance" thing. This is a pretty laid back group around here--all you need to bring is a desire to ride, the rest will take care of itself. For specifics, I'd recommend a loop or two around Aliso/Wood Cyn. and maybe jump across to Laguna Coast WP. That ride can be as mild or as hairy as you want to make it, and can be made long enough to justify your drive out here. As soon as it dries out I'd be glad to show you around, as would many others. |

Thanks guys... Just let me know when the next one is, and I'm there for sure. It's nice to find such a down to earth group of people.
DINO - I thought you were looking for a different ride? Kona?? Glad to see the SC excitement...

Location: the Edwards' Cinema. it's at the Ontario Mills mall which is off the 10 & 15 fwy's the exactly meeting place within the mall is off 4th street and the 15 fwy on the southwest corner across the street from the Mobil gas station. you're best bet is to exit at the 4th street exit on the 15 just north of the 10 (as soon as you go north of the 10 the exit is right there)
