There are actually those amoung us that have never ridden SART... what??? That's not possible! Gene & John (Keeps What Happens) are two that come to mind.
This is a classic San Wherever ride that you must do. Date: 6/21 Time: 9 am Meeting at the country store in Angelus Oaks, shuttle up to Jenks Lake, ride up Poop out Hill and back all the way to the country store.... in time to eat at Angelus Oaks. A great intermediate ride. This is a 4-5 hour ride....way fun Let me know if you are interested in riding... I'm going!

Crap! I so want to do this ride but we have a wedding at 3 pm in Chino. I wonder what I would have to do to get the boss to sign off on this one...

I want to go, but I'm probably riding with my family on saturday. They definitely aren't cut out for 30 mile rides at altitude...
Out of curiosity, what is the trail like in terms of obstacles/conditions? I rode big bear this weekend (1E01 and fall line from the summit a few times), and I REALLY hate that loose decomposed granite stuff. (my dad does too, he took a header down a large embankment because of the stuff). just wondering if theres a lot of that kind of soil, or if its more actual dirt/silt like the fall line side of summit? |

Just kidding... Above Jenks Lake the trail is quote rocky...once you come down next to the river, it's in the trees and totally awesome... cross the highway and it's a great single track with good traction... There's a reason this trail is considered a classic ... it's fun to ride. If you don't make it this time, be sure you do in the future! Not a problem, Dale... This one is fun either way... I prefer squish as it's a long ride and the single speed gets a little old after a couple of hours... but that's just my old bones talking. The upper section is rocky! come on... Poop Out is really a very nice easy climb ... We're not racing.... ![]()

thanks OMR, I'm definitely going to get out there sometime soon. perhaps even the weekend after (sunday the 29th), but that depends on whether I have friends who can handle a long ride coming to visit or not.
Its just that I dont have any of my family that can handle both a longer ride and a trickier descent. Each of them is passable at only one of them at the moment (they've only been riding about a month) |
