Default Aliso woods on Sat

Hey, I am planning on riding one of the trail systems at Aliso Woods on Saturday, Apr 1. I am leaving the dirt parking lot at 7:00 am (yes I know it’s early). I’m a beginner and not very good, but if you want to ride let me know.

With all the rain (and the rain forecast for Friday) you may want to give them a call before you head out there to make sure they are open...949-923-2200

Dude, where did you see that forecast? I just check weather.com and there is a 10% change of rain for Sat and no rain until next Monday. I will call just in case the trails are still wet from this last system.

From the NOAA National Weather Service site.

Sounds like it's shaping up to be another one of those Cali storms where you don't know if it's gonna rain until you're wet.

Kippie, no Strawberry Peak for you on Saturday? You will be missing a great ride. I have room for one person in my truck and 2-4 more bikes. The San Gabriel's have excellent trails. No mud on the decomposed granite on this ride!

It is not a techincal ride...maybe a couple of long tough climbs, but nothing that should scare you off. The scary sections are short and I just walk them.

These pics are a good example of most of the trail.

Here is the best way to check. The Mt. Wilson webcam http://www.astro.ucla.edu/~obs/towercam.htm is a peak away and they share the same weather. If you see nothing it is because of the fog/clouds. They also post the current temperature.

I have been on that ride in the low 30's and snowing. I have been there in January and had it feel like 90+.

If cloudy in the high 30's into the middle 40's. If sunny it might get into 60's. Layer and bring shell, weather can change fast up there.

The ride does not take you to the peak of Strawberry Peak but a side trip will take you to Josephine Peak (5400ft).

Von Skip, I think you should do the rock-roll on T&A and see if this bike is endo-proof!

I was thinking an Aliso/LCWP/EL Moro stint would be a great way to "break" in that new Spot

I'm beginning to think there is a conspiracy against me. Everytime I go out of town for the weekend you guys do this ride.

I gave my wife a weekend in Vegas for Christmas and realized it's this weekend. I think I'll bring my bike though. If I get up early Saturday I can ride and be back before she finishes her spa treatment.

Have fun guys.
