Ditto...this was the place that got me started in mountain biking to begin with. Used to ride there almost every day after school when I was at El Toro HS. I was so afraid it was going to be gone when the fires hit. Can't wait to hit my old stomping grounds again!

Agreed. Lots of man hours went into getting the park back into usable condition. Besides, what else would you do with 2 bucks? Buy 1/3 of a gallon of gas?! Though, that lot IS small and we will fill it up for sure (probably 5 times over judging by the interest on this ride).

I can't wait to get back out to whiting...miss having that as one of the places to go hit after work! And I haven't had a reason to go to Inka Mama since whiting burned - that's some good post-ride peruvian food!

edit- just realized that it's a thursday, which should be pretty self-limiting. never mind...
July 12th is a Sat. You might have been looking at the month of June.

Take the 30+ riders add in a few dozen weekend warriors, first opening weekend = crowded.

Sure it will be crowded but I wouldn't want to miss it!

Just a GOOD excuse for another STR party

There is more parking off of Glen Ranch Road; from there, if you plan the trails right, you get to do the singletrack twice (assuming it's still there)

Sweet. I miss the Wed. evening rides at Whiting. I've seen fist fights, hammerheads cutting people off on the singletrack, hikers that walk 5 across and don't move. I hope the timeout the park has had keeps everyone mellowed out a bit.

Ahh, it's not that bad. But I did see a fist fight which was hilarious b/c one guy was complaining the other guy sucked his wheel all the way up Mustard. Dude, there's no drafting advantage!? You guys were going 3-4mph.

I think Wed was industry night, or something. Which was fun b/c 4 corners would be packed. Tons of bikes. But it only takes a few folks deciding to do a few questionable passes and rub a few handlebars to make things interesting.

And the Hikers well, I think it's ettiquette thing that over time I hope they learn it's much easier on everyone just to give a little space so the bikers climbing can slip by.

Wrecker, you going to be practing on Dreaded for next year's hill climb already?

Hahaha. Agreed. Lucky your hubby is a cyclist too. Otherwise these biking euphemisms would have me cruis'in for a beat down.

I'm not sure if I will be strong enough for this ride. I just started riding in dirt again after the accident. I'll play it by "legs" since I live a block away from the entrance.

Edit: Pace? Distance? Broken hip friendly? HAHAHAHA
