Default in Long Beach Monday, March 26th

SoCal mt bikers,

Hangin' at a buddy's in Long Beach Monday & Tuesday, lookin' to rent a ride and hit the trails while he's at work.

I like the seriously technical stuff and a bike that can handle it. I'm currently not in road racing shape or anything like that, but confident I could hang with someone who'd be willing to show me around.

So far it is lookin' like I'll rent something from Laguna Cyclery and hit the trails near there. If anyone's got a better idea please shoot me a reply.

Thanx!

Ken

Then Laguna should keep you happy.

Default rain

Bummer about the rain today, but I did get a good ride in yesterday. Rented a Blur from Laguna Cyclery and headed into the Santa Anas to ride the San Juan trail, among others. Pretty isolated, as I did not see another rider all day. Enjoyed driving the Ortega Highway about as much and planting my hand in a bush of razor sharp grass (see attached) - good times! Can't complain about descending the San Juan, but next time I'll probably stay in the Aliso Canyon.

Those are formallly known as yuccas, but I prefer to call them gotchas, and it seems they lived up to their nickname for you.

Glad you had a good ride.

Web site says $25 per day, I paid $35. I don't mind spending that kinda dough to ride a solid fs rig like the Blur, and the shop guys seem like good people. My satisfaction as a customer will be solidified when the $2500 major credit card deposit doesn't show up on my statement.

A few more pics...

Default Laguna Cyclery

Glad to hear you had a good experience at Laguna Cyclery. I bought my 5 Spot from them and had a great experience as well. Post again if you come back to So Cal - maybe some of us will be able to join you next time.

Yeah, I gotta give props to the crew at Laguna Cyclery, good service and good product.

If/when I'm in town again I'll be sure to send a shout out via this site.

Until then...
