Uh oh, I hope Nunya doesn't catch me freely using "Cali" to describe SoCal....
![]() What up STR!!! So by now I'm probably the weird guy (more so than before) that posts every few months but barely anyone knows who he is... ![]() Anyway for those of you vatos that do remember me, we finally made our plans for a SoCal visitation! Boy are we excited!!! Obviously it's summer-time and peeps probably have all sorts of plans and sh!t already, not to mention the STR BBQ--which sounds like a killer time--but if anyone is going to be around, I'd LOVE to go for a ride and/or grab some grub with ya'll! ![]() We'll be in the area from JULY 12 - 19. The beater is that a weekend ride is out of the question as we're doing wedding stuff (an old college buddy) in Topanga Canyon Friday and Sat...therefore, Sunday probably wouldn't fly either given all the hangover and logistics to work out. ![]() But, we'll be centrally-located in Cerritos, so anytime and any day from Monday (july 14) to Friday (july 18 ) I'm game for riding and/or grubbing! New STR, old STR, or ride then lunch, or ride then dinner, or just lunch, or just dinner, whatever. It's been too long and I'd love to see you bros again! ![]() I have forgotten some details about the OC/LA traffic and the trails, nor do I know trail status given wildfires, landslides, etc but I imagine either an Aliso-area (milf park, Laguna Coast, el moro, etc) or a non-epic Santa Ana ride (Whiting, STT) would work. If people were really ambitious I'd be down with Holy Jim or San Juan Trail but those would take all day. I've been hitting the SingleSpeed hard so that I don't vomit and cramp-out on the fireroad before the singletrack. ![]() Our quick update: I officially got the piece of paper that says I'm a mo'fo doctor (of philosophy, so a "fake doctor"). My wife, Eve, is still pregnant and we'll find out if it'll be ECOdork Jr. or ECOdork-ette next week. And now I'm even more scared sh!tless about being a daddy. Laddy, Clinky, Aldo...HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPP! ![]() |

It will great to see you again, Lance. Congrat's on your pending pappahood. You and Eve will do great.
I look forward to riding with you again and catching up. I'll start practicing all my doctor jokes now so I'm ready when you get here. Craig

Great news on so many fronts, Lance!
Look forward to riding with you again, it's been way too long. We'll have to get the old group together for dinner one night as well. Who knows, might even coax Skeeter out of hiding...

Lance very nice, are you a big wheel guy now? Since you are staying in Cerritos maybe we can put together a San Gab ride for ya. If you need to borrow a bike for a ride let me know, if you are in a SSing mode you can borrow my Medium Niner One-9.
Been missing ya my friend. Dean

Hey Lance, congrats to you and Eve on the future dork/ette! Hallums and I just had a baby also, he is almost 2 months old now. It is pretty cool, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
Hopefully we can all plan a ride sometime during that week. I'll be available in the afternoons, usually after 2ish or so. Hope to see you soon! Rob |

Thanks everyone! Yeah I've been missing ya'll too! But we are very excited about going out there and being able to ride and hang, if even for a bit.
![]() Man, Whiting/STT still closed! Bummer. The other week I was out of town for work and briefly saw Cook's Corner on the news. I started jabbering on about OC and Cooks and everything, but no one was listening. ![]() Rob, congrats on the boy! You and Laddy will have to fill me in on what to expect without scaring me further...if that's possible.... Dean, thanks for the offer to borrow your Niner! I've been wanting to see what the fuss of that frame is all about and medium would be perfect! ....but, riding rigid 29'er SS out here is one thing; I'm not sure I could hang back in SoCal after all this time ! I was hoping that I'd be able to fall back on gears and suspension (by renting or groveling a borrowed bike) so I'm less likely to toss myself face-first into the cholla and rocks. But if we can't swing that, I'd definitely borrow that Niner! I now realize the truth master ShinKen's speaks in that SS is like a different mindset/philosophy to be embraced. ![]() George, indeed, Cerritos is close to LBC! ...and Bananaseat's hood too. Looking forward to this!!! We'll let a few others chime in on availability over the next few days then see if we can't carve out a time to ride and a time for grub! |
