Default and by repair....

Do you mean they have now cut off access from the Del Mar side?

Do you mean the fence next to the Eucalyptus tress, does the fence block off access to the trail that leads to the Rocking horse Tunnel.

If it was the fence torn down by the offroaders down by the entry gate and the concrete barriers, that's a good thing. Keeps them motos out.

If it was the small openings to the Tunnels #3 and Rockin' Horse trail.......wonder how long it'll stay up?

F&G is on a tight budget, ya know. They can't afford to drag theirselves out there time and again to repair small fenceline cuts. I hope they got the sense to know where the fence REALLY needs repairin'.

coming from the powerlines, the fence has blocked off the first entrance on the right. it is the opening that was sometimes blocked off by branches and is flanked on each side by freeway center dividers

ray before you bag on motos. think of all the great trails that we ride and alot of them were created by motos.

Just rode there this morning. Rocking horse is still open. The repair was made by the trees; there are two openings at the Eucalyptus and it's the second fence, which is the one closest to the trees, that was repaired. Since there is still another opening, this repair is a non-event by itself but might be an indication of further action?

I'm not baggin' on them, but i don't wanna hafta ride the same trails with 'em, either. It just don't work out. Worse than sharing with horses.

And that's totally beside the fact that the majority of motos i've run across on the trails have acted, with no prompting from me, like they were better than me. A few exceptions, yes, but overall, I've had to deal mostly with punks.

For example, the two guys I stopped from riding their motos down Noble Canyon a few years back acted totally outraged and aggressive towards me at first. Afterwards, tho, one of 'em thanked me for stoppin' em.

Now, just fer a second, picture the kind of trail medium that much of the "tunnels" is composed of, and then picture what even one aggro moto rider would do to it, in only a single run. About what 5 or more horses would do, I'm guessin'......

Nope, I ain't budgin' on this. the Tunnels are best left to responsible cyclists and our soft-rubber, leg-powered wheels, and hikers and trail runners, too. Those trails will last close to forever that way.

BTW, I rode 'em today, partly 'cause I wanted to check on the fence deal. From what I could see, there's new fenceposts set in cement out near the concrete traffic barriers.....looks like fresh chainlink will be going up there soon. But to my relief, neither the entrance thru the fence to tunnel 3 or the entrance thru to tunnel 2 (rockin horse) was closed up...........so overall, the way i ride the trails was totally unaffected. It looked to me like F&G was focussing on the sensible thing....blocking off the moto access point out by the concrete barriers as the gates.

Hope it just stays that way......

I rode it this afternoon and noticed the same thing--new poles sunk in fresh concrete. I wonder how long it will last, given the condition of most of the chain-link fence out there.
