Think Circles Dave!
|
Hey folks, This is my first post here so I figured I'd make it a good one! I've been lurking for a week or so and just got signed up. I was looking for a map of all of the local trailheads so I could get a better idea of where they are. I've searched 3 different MTB sites and couldn't find one so decided to make one. I've used www.mountainbikebill.com to locate the trailheads on the map and marked them, along wit adding links back to MBB's write ups and info.
I've only filled in the San Diego area so far but i plan to keep working on it. The Map is set up a public and anyone can edit it. So if you'd like to contribute, please do. If I find it becomes vandalized or inaccurate I can always specify delegates for editing. Thanks for the great site and enjoy! ![]() Click on the image and it will take you to the map. ![]() |

Awesome. I was just wondering the other day if there was something like this out there, similar to Beer Mapping. Way to make your first post a great one davemw.
I added a few in my area.

This is a cool idea, and thanks for the work you've done so far.
I would add that it would be particularly cool to add google maps of the actual routes for each trail, rather than just the icon and link to MTB Bill. That's obviously more work, but something I'd be interested in helping with if you're interested. I have google map routes for many San Diego rides via my Garmin 205 in conjunction with Motionbased. If you're interested in that type of integration, shoot me a PM or something. The main reason for my particular interest in seeing maps for the actual rides is that with my schedule, I have a hard time making group rides. So if I want to check out a new trail solo, it would be great to be able to look at a google map of the ride beforehand to see what route to take. Thanks again for your work on this and for taking the initiative to put something together. Last edited by quaestionis; 06-03-2008 at 01:33 PM. Reason: Learned How to Edit Map |

Ditto on BrewMaster
Once you are logged int to google and you click edit on the map, then drag the markers. There are also icons in the upper left corner of the map that will allow you to dra the trails in. Being that I've had my bike for all of 10 days, I haven't ridden many of these trails and don't know the area. Thanks for the interest in this! It will hopefully turn out to be a great resource for all of us. |
