I am 55 this year and I am not going to do the Policeman/LA marathon thing and blow up my heart hamming up Josephine Fireroad. Bring the SS. That applies to you too FoShizzle.

Sounds good...and bring the SS.

This will be the toughest ride I have tried on the SS and I will be taking my time.

For those of you on the fence whether you want to go or not here is the profile of the ride and map. If you want a Mapsource or Topo tracklog or a better quality map, E-mail me and I will send it to ya.

I'd love to join you guys on this ride but it also lands on the same day as the first practice session for the CYTOMAX race, and heaven knows i'll need all the practice I can get for this race.

Default Parking

I was going to attach a Google directions file (*KMZ) file but it is not a authorized file. E-mail me if you want it.

Here is a JPG of the parking area. The road coming in from the left is Highway 2 coming up from Altadena.

what gearing you gonna do? i have a loaner EBB in the frame which is a biznitch to adjust so I am probably gonna just leave it as 32:20 (29er) so I dont make the bike unrideable. I am sure it will be fine.

Going 32x20, on my One-9.

Switched from 32X22 a few weeks ago and so far so good.

I don't want to buy any more sprockets. I'm going to stay with the 32:20 and pray my knees don't blow up on me.

Snow level at this time would make it almost impossible to ride. If it climbs back up some we should be okay. Some of the backside will still have some deep snow so you might want to bring some extra socks.

So far it does not look like they got much new snow at that elevation...but the Strawberry Portero is North slope and mostly shaded and holds snow for awhile.

To check weather: Mt. Wilson webcam is doing the peak a boo thing and is still mostly in the clouds.
