Default Vail Lake 12 Hrs of Temecula (June) Course Pre-Ride

This one's for Luke!

Easy lap. Justin and I will be heading to NMBS Santa Ynez for the weekend, so I want to get some nice easy miles in my legs as preparation for the weekend.

Start at 5pm. We usually finish up around 7pm.

Park at the go-kart track.

Last week we ran into local pro Robert Herber (from Racers and Chasers) who showed us how it's done! He was rocking on what most of us considered hike-a-bike's. Also saw Vailocity builder extraordinaire EC out there after a long (he was in a truck though ).

Come out and see what it's all about!

So, it's about 13 miles and 2000 feet ascent for the lap?

Laps are right around 9mi with about 1400ft of climbing. I think geoladders shows a little less, but my Garmin says 1400-1500.

Justin and I did 2 laps today, but usually get in one in the evenings before dark.

We started at 8:15 am. Only a few Xterra pre-riders out there and two guys with their kids.

It was Mother's Day, bud

We'll be out again Thurs at 5pm. I think Luke normally goes out and do hill repeats earlier if he can. You guys can do more speed work if you are there earlier.

I would like to do so but it does not look that way. They did not have the course marked yet but I was riding the last years course and it look like they did a little work(large brach across trail to signify left turn off ridge to... not sure where.

There rig is parked out there so I am guessing they will start work today.

Oh is that why my mom was so pissed at me? Well not really, but hey I gotta ride. I just thought you were going out in the afternoon. Oh well saw some of the Red Hawk guys. Great to see Mark riding again after his bad crashes

I'm showing 94*F for Thursday, and we aren't starting til 5pm. May be warm, but shouldn't be too bad. Dam climb might be warm, but the rest should be perfect!

Are we still meeting at the Go-Kart track or does the new starting line mean there is a new meeting place-
I haven't been there, so I really don't know where I am going.

Nah, we'll meet at the same place. If we feel like riding down to the pools we can.

We will be a few mins late. Our buddy needs to pick up a rental bike

I want to ride again but there are some issues:
1. my normal thurs. ride group is starting to suspect something, so I need to keep it on the down-low. We went from a group of 8, 10 years ago, to 3 of us now.

I'm so confused........
El Moro and nice weather
or
Vail and home 2 hours early
