Default Uno Mas Tiempo - Burn Victim & More

When: Saturday May 10, 2008, Meet at 8:00am - Riding by 8:15am. Meet at the Castaic Sports Complex.

Directions: Exit at Parker Rd. off of I-5 north in Castaic. Turn right from offramp and right again at first stop sign. This goes back along the freeway about 1/3 mile to Castaic Sports Complex. We'll meet in the parking lot closest to the street right next to the entrance in front of the gymnasium.

Just to give you a rough idea of drive time: This is about 25-30 minutes from West LA, 30-35 minutes from Pasadena, 45 minutes from Ventura and about one hour from Orange County (Disneyland).

What/Where: Ride Tapia Canyon in Castaic. About 15+ miles all together if we do both (Chicken Run & Burn Victim) versions of the singletrack descent. Fireroad climb with singletrack descent(s). If we're still feeling it, we'll climb back to the meadow and ride the singletrack down into Charlie canyon and then back out.

Who: Everyone is welcome. No rider will be left behind. My son Ted can accomodate faster paced extra-credit stuff is anyone is so inclined.

The weather has been excellent for riding here lately and won't stay like this forever, so it's time to hit it while the hittin' is good. Saturday's forecast is for 76 degrees with a 10mph breeze and 20% chance of precipitation. So the clouds and light breeze should keep things very nice.

Welcome to the area. I am in for a 5/17 ride. I usually ride Sat and/or Sun mornings. I know of a few trails in town that are decent. I usually post rides on www.chaingangmtb.com........

AND, I know Mike, I should be studying for my final, but I will probably go Saturday anyway! I am dying to hit burn victim!

Randall, we're in Lancaster for a soccer tournament on the 17th/18th, but who knows, someone else may post up a ride here locally for that weekend.

In the meantime, let me know if you're available for weekday rides. We also do this as a night ride if you have lights.

After things get cooking here during the summer, well probably lookng at some rides at higher elevation like Eagle Trail and maybe Mt. Pinos type stuff.

Mike, come on out and clear your head for a bit and then hit the books hard with a refreshed attitude

I'm really up for anything, I'm kind of a wuss in the high elevations, but anything new is fine by me. Weekday rides are almost always a possibility for me, after work of course, and night rides too. If you guys wanna post or PM me before a ride that would be awesome, I'll do the same.

..I thought this was a charity ride for some poor burn victim named Mas Tiempo.

His real name is Juan Mo'Time, but his close friends call him Mas Tiempo...

Truthfully, since we've been doing ride this so often, I just try to change up the name here and there instead of posting up the some ol' title every time.

And now that I think about it, every ride I'm on is a charity ride of sorts

Might have to rename it "Cuatro Mas". I'm loopin' it til the Flying Tiger gets every turn memorized .

This is a great ride, not too challenging of a climb for the beginners and plenty of opportunity for the "Hammerheads" to test their mettle against a 6'5" 17 year old in his prime (The Tedster rocks!).

Sweet multiple singletrack descents culminating in a twisting, rolling, rocky (ok, small rocks but rocks nonetheless) dry creek bed.

Forget all of your "ego trip, epic, 6000' of vertical in a day rides and come out and have fun!

(not to offend anyone who thinks 6000' in a day is fun...maximum respect to that rare breed!)

It's looking like quite a gathering this time out. Hopefully it'll be enough to scare away the bees and gravity. I hate gravity.....

Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow.

Alright, I'm hoping the 'maybes' can make it.

The weather looks to be sunny, mid-50's at the start and mid to high sixties by the time we're done with a 5mph breeze. In other words, perfect.

See you all in the AM

Well maybe Mike (m/g) will bless us with one of his classic ride reports. He said he writes his best material when he's made at least some small epidermal and/or plasma sacrifice to the trail gods, so the BS should flow freely for at least a few good paragraphs

Always good to meet riders I've not met before, especially ones from the area. Thanks to all for making it out to ride with me this morning.
