I'll be staying Sat night to do some more riding on Sunday. There's room in the cabin for a few more people...post or PM if you're interested in staying thru Sunday!

Thanks for your RSVP'ing and giving me a *good* head count (enough yes's to feel comfortable reserving the shelter with BBQ's and some tables)

I will not deny that I am lazy. ...and I'm even lazier at elevation.

I love Big Bear, one of my favorite local trails is up there. Siberia Creek Trail, Champion Lodge Pole Tree to Gunsite.

How strict is big bear on the bike limits? My only trail bike is a 8 inch travel rocky rmx that weighs 45+ pounds with a single chainring and 2.7 tire. Will they let me on the lifs if I show up with a halfshell helmet and the seatpost up so it looks like I'm going to ride xc?

Just make sure you bring a backup bike.
Heck, regardless of the policy, if I was the guy who had to heft your bike up onto the lift, I'd send you away. Hernias suck.

Dude, you would REALLY have to sell it hard to get an RMX on there. I'm not saying it couldn't be done but I definitely wouldn't put any money on it. Drop the tires down to a 2.35 or 2.5 and you MIGHT be able to pass.

If you are running a Fox 40 or something, that makes it even harder to sell. If you can run a single crown like a Totem or a Marz 66, there's a very likely chance you will get on the lift but I wouldn't make any guarantees.

If there is big group that shows up with DH bikes, the lift operators will probably freak and REALLY crack down on the rules. They will weigh EVERY bike, measure every tire, and check every fork. It's happened before.

Worse comes to worse, borrow a trail bike to use as a backup. It would suck to come all the way up there and not get to ride.
