haha I can barely boil an egg. But I imagine one handful of rice might be enough to a medium bowl of food?

Still not sure if I'll make it out- gotta figure out my schedule to make sure I get home before work on Sunday because it sounds like everyone is staying pretty late.

Hi
I'm planning to drive there saturday morning.

Pine Knot has no sites left for online reservation, only first come first serve sites, by the time we make it there... chances are that they'll be all gone....

WONDERING

Is there anyone that has room in their site, to share and split cost?

1 vehicle........ 1 tent......2 men ..(my son and I)

If you mean fun stuff such as steep, loose, and rocky trails, they're everywhere! Many of these also have small to large drops, fallen-tree jumps, and rock jumps. It may take me a couple runs to remember how to get to the teeter totter. It helps to go with someone who knows where the good stuff is. When I was with Ko, we tried to do some exploratory stuff, but that left her doing a lot of hiking (not fun - sorry honey!). I still won't say that I know my way around, but we found a lot of stuff that I would feel better riding with a full-faced helmet and armor.

We did ride a trail that Ko really liked. I think it was Pirates to Lower Fall Line. I'm sure she'll want to ride that repeatedly, so if anyone wants to go, she'd be glad to have someone to ride it with instead of following me down something stupid.

The loop will run right around 12 miles with maybe 700' - 900' vertical feet of climbing. The bright side is that we will be using the lifts to get to the top. No 5 mile grind climb to the top!

Tentatively the loop will start at the lifts and head west along Skyline Dr. (2N10) to Grand View Point. If you wish a bit of extra credit, we can climb to the point and take in the view of SART and Redlands in the distance. Continuing west on Skyline to what I think is the best single-track trail in terms of flow on the mountain - Plantation Trail. After trying to wipe the smile off our faces, we will climb back up to the top of Pineknot Trail via 2N17 and enjoy 4 miles of great single-track all the way down the mountain to Aspen Glen Picnic Area.

If everyone is feeling adventurous, we can also add Stonehenge to the route as well without sacrificing anyone.

From there, its hop, skip and a short road ride back through the center of town to Towne Trail and back to the resort. From there you can jump back on the lift to hit it again or go exploring some of the other trails.

As with all STR rides, no one will be left behind and the pace will be moderate. Total saddle time should be right around 90 minutes (group size dependant).
I suppose you can't bring a trailer up on the lifts.
How bad is this 5 mile climb to the start of the newbie friendly ride?

i havent done the ride up in ~1 year but have done it a few times in the past. mostly fire ride. this there is one tight section towards the start that may be a wiggle with the trailer (but cannot recall exactly). Also i forget the trail name but there is a short ST at the top that brings you to a lookout that has a few boulder crawls if i recall...again may be tough with trailer but imagine something can be accomplished

I would say you can bring a trailer on the lift. I have seen many families ridding the Grandview Loop on all kinds of bikes....give them a call. Grandview Loop is well marked and all fireroad...with nice views.

If you disconnect the trailer, they can send the bike and trailer on separate chairs, assuming the trailer isn't too heavy or awkward. On Sunday, they sent up a wheelchair - no kidding!

I've seen trailers go up on the lifts....I think they're ok!

There are places to ride once you get the trailer up the lift! It may not be super fun single track but there are several fire roads..

OR......

One trail (i don't know the name of) that Maddie enjoys would be trailer friendly for most of the ride down. You would have to get off and walk for some of the rock garden sections but couldn't be any worse than you bringing the trailer on the 24hr of Hurkey course.

I'd be willing to bring-up some extra Lamp Fries Kebobs but considering it's delicacy and high cost, I would need to know who'd be interested first. Anyone (aside from Oh-Dee) anyone?
