I'm planning on going to the Orange Y BMX track this Friday. All are welome to come. Practice and sign-ups are 5:30 to 7:30 on Fridays, and races begin shortly after registration closes. I get there at about 6:30ish.
Show up to practice on the track, or try your hand at racing too! It's a really low-pressure racing environment. An ABA membership is required (although 30-day memberships are available). If you don't have a BMX bike, mountain bikes are OK! (There are usually at least a couple mtbs out there.) All you need is: - helmet (XC lid is OK, but full face helmets are nice) - long sleeve shirt - pants (sorry, but shorts and kneepads cannot be used instead of pants) http://orangeybmx.com/ For those who don't know me, I'll be wearing an FB jersey (there are a few of them out there), and the number on my bike is #26. |

A couple people mentioned about going the following Friday. I will be at Gooseberry, but other STR Orange Y regulars will probably be there (CBharping, julia12, Dino Brown, mudman, etc.). Hopefully one of them will post a "ride" for the following week to let everyone know there will be another STR gathering (it's been pretty common on Friday nights lately).

Speaking of "NUMBER" plates....
Last week I saw a kid racing with the greatest number plate of all time. LITERALLY a 10" paper plate (i.e. the kind you eat with) tied together with zip ties! ![]()

That's more common that you'd believe. Paper plates, aka pie plates, are probably the most commonly used number plate in BMX history - all the way back to the 70s.

When I raced 12 years ago that's what we used. I'm not sure if it was the track or ABA, but I would get a different number just about every race. I also wouldn't know my number until about 20 min before the first race. So paper plate and sharpie it is. ![]() |
