RR:SART

Well we got started by looking for the secret SCotty Trail. All that have done the SART with STJunkie know of this part that I talk about, so it's not really all that secret. Still I had a helluva time finding it. Airgabe and his brother Ray were following me (you'd think they'd know better by now) Anyways after looking forever and asking locals where it was I found it, well not all of it, but most of it. We skipped the vortex or the sacrificial alter or whatever that thing is up there.

So we proceed down and have some good ol fashion mountain biking fun to South Fork. We then ride the road back to where there is a T intersection. Gabe was a little up front and I notice a squirrel coming out from the side of the road about as far as he could get from the intersection and he's making a beeline towards Gabe. As we all know this isn't that unusual as they tend to dart away with room to spare. This one didn't...It looked like he was trying to dart in between those big 29 inch wheels and just didn't make it. (now had he been on a 26 we may still had little Rocky around). Ray said it looked like that thing that they call "Suicide by cop", well this was "suicide by mountain biker". Yep, Gabes a killer. Please be careful when riding with him and let all the other forest creatures know he's out there.

I also seen a dead lizard on the way back....I wonder if that was Gabe too?

Oh yeah, the conditions on SART are really good, but I believe they'll get real lose this year as we just didn't have enough moisture up there. Temps were a little warm, but nothing compared to down here. There's a lot of deadfall on Scotts section, but the short part we road of it it was good to go.

Mike what will it take to clear Lost Creek Trail, chainsaw or handsaw? How many trees and how big?

We stopped and cleaned a little, but there's few trees that'll require the forestry service in there. Lost Creek name sux. We've renamed it to "Scotty's secret trail".

I think the real problem lies within the big wheels. Had they been smaller I don't think little Rocky would of even attempted to run between them. I'm going to notify the Sierra Club and fill them in on the details. I know they are already somewhat against the whole 29er thing. I forsee a future where we will have only 26er trails where the 29ers have to ride in a creature free enviornment.

Poor little guy didn't even see you coming. Did you try to give him CPR?
I believe you tried to miss him. It all happens so fast. I have had one of those guys bounce off my front wheel and spring straight up about 5-10 feet in the air but it didn't hurt him it just scared us both. If he was a little slower he would have made it between the wheels. He learned a lesson about timing.

You're all wrong, it's called Secret Canyon. There's a reason for that name. Although I hear "secret" offends some people...
