Just posting this as a date in the calendar for the shop! This is going to be a great event for a worthy cause! Eric, Rich, and friends run a great shop down there, if you guys are in the area you should stop by and check them out! I'm stoked to have them on board.
Cheers! ![]() Here is the shops address 6425 El Cajon Blvd San Diego, CA 92115 What Eric said..... Hey All, We (Zumwalt's Bicycle Center) will be hosting our second annual Demo Day & Poker Ride May 18, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sweetwater Summit Park in Bonita. As mentioned in the title, the Demo will feature the latest bicycles from Cannondale, Diamondback, Giant, Rocky Mountain, and Yeti Cycles. We will also be hosting a FREE Poker Ride w/ Prizes from the shop and from various vendors. The MTB Poker Ride will be an 8 to 12 mile loop with many trails in the surrounding area for those who would like to ride more. In Addition to the MTB Poker Ride we will be adding a group Road Ride to this year's events which will be about 25 to 30 miles. Participants in the Road Ride will be given a hand in the Poker Ride after completion of the ride. There will also be a raffle benefiting the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) and San Diego Mountain Bike Association (SDMBA) with prizes from a lot of various vendors. Food will be provided. For more info check out our website at www.zcbikes.com (info. to be posted) or give us a call at the shop. __________________ Zumwalt's Bicycle Center www.zcbikes.com (619)582-6440 6425 El Cajon Blvd San Diego, CA 92115 |

What's the terrain like for the mtb Poker ride and are their "shortcuts"? I'm looking for first mtb event for our second-grader.

The area is fairly beginner / intermediate freindly with a few of steep climbs and a few rocky sections that can be walked without any issues. They usually pick a non challenging route for these types of events. I am sure you will find it fun and easy to do with your family.
Hope this helps. Ali

Hey Ali,
Long time no see... Hope all is well. Ali is definitely correct. We try to keep the event family friendly (i.e. beginner friendly) as we want as many people out there riding together as possible. However, there are many trails that go off the main route that can add some difficulty to the ride if you're looking for that, whether it be a long steep hill, or steep technical, that area offers quite a bit to test the demo bikes or your skills. Hopefully we'll see you all out there. Eric Hey Kurt, Thanks for putting this on the "calendar"... didn't know you could do that |

3 1/2 weeks away... it's gonna be a good one. Just so you all know, we'll be selling raffle tickets at the shop and at the event for $1 per ticket or $20 for 30 tickets. Prizes sponsored by Canari, Camelbak, Cannondale, Giant, Giro, Diamondback, Intense Tires, Niterider, Oakley, Rocky Mountain, Schwalbe, THE, Vitalyte, & Yeti. Hope to see you all there.

Is hard to tell, they have two parking areas in the park, last year by 9:30 were full but you might be able to park on the street nearby and walk if you can't find a good spot, then again it all depends of how many people shows up.

So how do the demos work..? Do you just give them your ID and go off riding..?
What about peddles.. do you slap on your own? I rather use my platforms... I just got a used set of egg beaters... and let me just say thats it's been a humbling experience. |
