Thinking about joining the group. I don't know this route and I don't want to hold the group up.

If I am riding good tonight I'll show up.

It's probably 75% or the route you did when we rode that VERY HOT Labor day. I think Erik will be going the reverse way which is somewhat easiler than the way I had everyone go.

Default Couple thangs

Re: parking don't worry, it's not really in a neighborhood. There are no houses on the street, it's just the back street that residential streets empty onto. People park there all the time to go into Oneill.

Re: the ride it's not really in Oneill much, you just start there to get into the Arroyo. The trail is fun for every skill but easy enough for beginners (like me). I hope I can make it, it's a fun ride!

We'll be going clockwise on the loop which I think is a little easier.

Just the one small hill by the Coto Gate, after that it's just kind of rolling.

Thumbs up Nicely done, grasshopper....

As said before, way to step up and take care of the people either new to biking or just looking for a low key ride to introduce themselves. As Gene and I have found out, there is no greater calling and sharing yourself with others.

Enjoy the ride....

I am going to do a lap through Oneill at 7:30 if anyone is interested in showing up early. Can ride between 6 and 10 miles depending on time/interest. Ride will start from the same gate.

Elvia, you should come along! Don't worry about holding people up. This will be a fun ride - I know you will like it. Jason and I would like to see you there!

Don't worry about holding up the group. We're shooting for a new low-speed record for the loop.

There should be lots of stops and talks, tips and tricks, mechanicals and fixes.

This sounds like fun. When do you think the ride will be done? If I have to be home by 1, is that feasible?

At a slowww pace, I would guess it would take 3 hours.

Default 241 Toll Road?

This may be a pretty naive question but:

So getting there would involve me taking the 133 and the 241 which google maps tells me are "partial toll road" (133) and a toll road (241). I've never driven on them before, do you need a pass or are there toll booths (how do toll roads work LOL) and most importantly, how much would it cost me?

THANKS

Both are toll. I'm not sure on the cost but $10 should cover both ways. There are toll booths so you don't need a Fastrack transponder. Alternatively you don't have to take the toll roads to get there.

ohyeah80 - I don't remember the cost but there are some both's there and you either pay the machine or attendant. I think it's $2.50 or something like that.

Thanks now I know I can take the 133 - I was wondering about that.

I'll be putting my wife on the vintage 1x9 to see how she fares with 1 chainring.

I think it costs me $4.50 to go from the 91 to the 5 through 133. And from the 91 to RSM is probably close to $6 one way.

Taking the toll road 133 to 241 will save you about 10 minutes time. It costs $2.50. The 133 is a connector to the 241 and you do not have to pay for that portion. If you wanted to stick to the freeway you can. Take the 5 (405 turns into the 5) freeway to Alicia, left off the freeway. Alicia for about 5 miles to Santa Margarita PKWY go right. Left onto Las Flores, Left on Camino Montana just past the condos on the right you will see the gate to Oneill where everyone is meeting.

So slow that I may tip over speed?

I may show up tommorow for this ride. I have been off the bike for over a week now and after drunken dubachory state I was in for Viva Las Vegas last weekend this may be the right ride for me.
