I'm in if the weather holds. I can take another bike w/ QR front in my truck for the shuttle if needed. Ladd Jasper - You out there buddy? I need someone else sporting more than 4" of travel to keep me company at the back of the pack.

If it's raining I'm watching football and drinking beer.

Aldo should be coming on his Spot, so there will be another Turner in the bunch

I think everyone is just a little to scared of getting wet. Come on that will make the ride that much more challenging.

At this point the flash flood watch expires at 8AM sunday. Of course, it could still be raining and floody, but at least "they" (noaa) think things should be dying down by sunday morning. Let's hope it stays that way...

Vehicle-wise: among aldo, lance, craig (can't remember your rig), and kipp that's a capacity of like 9 - 12 bikes, surely we can figure out how to make it happen once we get a solid feel for the headcount.

A little rain is one thing, but raging torrents of freezing cold water that rise so fast they are like moving walls of death are a whole other story!

Let's hope this rain event is nothing like the ones from last year!

knock on wood lance

Yahoo keeps telling me rain on saturday and sun on sunday. Thats why its call SUNday right?

Perhaps a little snow on the peaks??

PS I would also like to extend this ride invitation to Stephen Jackson. I know I could count on you to retrieve my bike from any rivers. How is your Vision Quest training coming by the way Steven?

If I wasn't sick, I'd like to give this ride a shot. Maybe next week or sometime in the future. I bet it will be fun on a 33.1 pound Heckler. =)

I'm hoping to get my new RST shock before the VQ. Four nights a week I've been throwing back 3 pitchers of Budweiser with a bucket of 50 hotwings, I was thinking of hitting Cooks Corner to do some extra training too. I should be in top notch shape by the time the ride comes around.

I think Steven will be busy rubbing Vicks on Dino's chest between shots of Walgreens Private Selection tequilla. Whatever you do Dino, don't let him do a shot out of your belly button. That's a slippery slope you don't want to go down. Get well soon brutha.

I can send in reinforcements if necessary.

Yeah, I'm here and trying hard to make this ride. Got the bike working nicely and am anxious to give 'er a good workout. Guessing I'll really miss the Stumpy around mile 12, but will have all that sweet, sweet downhill to forget my woes. See you at the back of the pack!*

Figure I'm in a better position than most to say: "I'm with Rob on this one." Coincidentally, the first anniversary of "The Incident" is just around the corner. Great.

Dell, I hope to see you out there man.......we all want to see that purty bike get dirty!!!

As far as the rain goes they are forecasting only 1/4". I'd say the coldness/possibly wind will be more of a factor so come prepared for some cold weather. I think the rain will be a non issue [-o<

I just stanitized my new Crossmax SL's so I'm eager to try them out with my "pinner" tires. Hopefully the tires won't leave me sliding all over the place, but I think I chose the right combo this time....1.95 Nevegal DTC and a 2.1 Nevegal stick-e. Just not used to running such a small tires

So far it looks like rain chances are less than they were yesterday! Let's hope we only have to deal with chilly fingers in the morning.

Dell- I was thinking that the 1 year mark for that Maple Springs adventure was coming up...what better a way to commemerate the date than with a good (and dry) ride with friends on a sweet new bike!

Ok, so here's the plan:

08:30 - Meet at the dirt lot off of Trabuco Canyon Rd. (a.k.a. Live Oak Rd.) and Trabuco Creek Rd. Map of Meet Location

Pile gear and bikes into vehicles and drive down to Maple Springs parking lot.

Enjoy an awesome ride up Maple Springs to the peaks and down Holy Jim(s)!

Here are the names I have (in no particular order):
1. Lance (texlepomis) 949-606-2466
2. Matt (IntenseKipp)
3. Aldo (bananaseat)
4. Rob (FXRob)
5. Craig (CalEpic)
6. Steve (dukethenuke)
7. Dell (Ladd Jasper)
8. Matt (ocrider101)

Does this sound reasonable? Is anyone missing, or not supposed to be there? Both Matt and I will probably be driving so there should be plenty of options for the post-ride shuttle back to MS.

For you cats coming from the other side of the planet, let me know if this start time is nutz and we can push it back a little. But I have a feeling we'll be futzing around loading gear and bikes for a few minutes as it is...

I've got a call into Dell (ladd jasper) to see if he's coming or not. I'd say we meet no later than 8:30, because it is quite a ways drive back to the MS lot so we probably wouldn't get riding until 9:30 at the earliest. I think I'm going to carpool with Aldo, depending on if we need my car or not.

The "storm" today will probably make for some good trail conditions in most areas.

The Luge was realy muddy today but the trails were riding on should be good because the soil doesnt have alot of clay like the Luge.

A few of us are wanting to bump up the meeting time to 8am so we can get a little earlier start to the ride. If anyone is against this or can't make it at 8 please speak up. Sounds like we've got the shuttle somewhat organized. Dell is coming and he will take Aldo and I back to the MS lot at the end of the ride since we all have to head back that way to go home anyway. We just don't want the ride to take up the whole day so we'd like to get it started a bit earlier

I am actually feeling much better today, but don't think I'd have the lungs for tomorrows ride. Hope you guys have fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures and reading the write-ups already!!!

Maybe I'll try to ride on Monday, I"ll be down in south OC for a meeting at 11 am, I"ll probably bring my bike with me and maybe hit STT afterwards, I dunno.

Boy, you'd think we're planning to invade some far off country with all the planning involved with this shuttle!

So revised time to meet at Live Oak and Trabuco Canyon: 08:00 AM

Hopefully with 5 vehicles and 7 - 8 bikes/people we can figure out how to do this.

Only wildcard thus far is steve(dukethenuke)...haven't heard any confirmation if he is coming or not...

dress warmly!
