Default Not about Taco Tues...

Not really about Taco Tues. but since allot of us are from the City of Orange I thought you might be interested. Looks like a new trail is being built. Here is what is on the latest Orange City Council Agenda (6/24/0:

3.17 Appropriation of County Proposition 1B funds and Award of Consultant Contract for Project No. 6103, North Santiago Creek Bike Trail (Collins Avenue to Cannon Street).
SUMMARY: On May 13th of this year, the City Council approved an agreement with the County of Orange to receive County Proposition 1B funding in the amount of $4,936,782 to develop the North Santiago Creek Bike Trail from Collins Avenue to Cannon Street, with a completion deadline of June 2011. The County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to approve this agreement at their June 17th board meeting. To meet the demanding schedule and avoid the potential loss of grant funds, it is recommended to secure knowledgeable project oversight consultant support designed to finalize/secure project funding, coordinate/communicate with various agencies and project stakeholders, finalize the project scoping, scheduling and phasing, coordinate environmental, right-of-way acquisitions and plans and specifications, and provide oversight during construction.
ACTION: 1) Appropriate the County Proposition 1B grant fund to Account 550-5011-483300-6103 (Reimbursable Grant Fund) $4,936,782; and 2) Award a Consultant Services Agreement in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 per fiscal year to Roger Hohnbaum, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City.
FISCAL IMPACT: Once the recommended action is taken, funds will be budgeted and available in the following account:
550-5011-483300-6103 County Proposition 1B Grant Funds $4,936,782

thanks for the heads up. Not really familiar with that area. where is it? are they considering a dirt or PAVED trail?

$4MM sounds like alot of cabbage but seeing how they just build a tiny little kids playground around us for what was something akin to $300K I imagine there will be more than a few $500 hammers purchased.

Who's in for tacos/riding tomorrow?

I think I'll actually be there for the ride this week......instead of my usual dine and dash.

I decided to do interval training on my hill and then head over. See you then!

Kid A... I think I am heading up to Big Bear on Friday with a few people and staying over for the Ride/BBQ on Sat. Are you going up just for the day or staying over?

current plans call for us (wife and son) heading up to BB Friday night (staying in sugar loaf). I'm gonna ride in the morning with str peeps and hook up with family again and the str gang at picnic for STR fun after ridetime. we're planning on stay sat night as well but STR off hill related activity may be tough to indulge that night with son in tow
