Meredith Ford and Caroline Goulard of team Sho-air/Sonance (Velosport) are organizing another girl’s ride on April 12th. This is an opportunity to meet some of the club’s racers, and ask all the questions you want to know about racing/training/nutrition/etc; or just to meet other girls with the same interest and have a good time on the bike. We're all about having fun. Beginners welcome. We’ll have an easy one hour loop at the beginning to warm-up, and then we’ll go on for those who want to go longer. Meet at 8:15 AM at the top of Ridge Park, to ride Laguna Wilderness and El Moro.

Since I can't make it to Sea Otter (family issues), I'll make it here!

Yes, thank you sir, consider me dragged in. Hello out there! I would love to join in on the ride, but I will have to pass this time. I will be lurking around, looking for rides coming up soon though. Is anyone doing the 8-hour solo at Hurkey Creek on the 26th? Any advise for a first timer? I usually do the 24-hour team event, and the idea of going around and around for 8-hours straight is making me a little squeemish.

I did the 8 hour in Sept and had a blast! In fact, if I had a sitter, I'd do it again this time, too.
Be sure to pace yourself. Don't get carried away with the guys racing out there for just one lap. Be sure to hydrate and "eat" regularly (whatever you usually use as fuel). In general, I think staying on the bike for 8 Hrs is easier than taking brief breaks in between laps for 24, but I tend to be slow either way. ![]() Caroline is a great reference and wealth of info, as she's done the 24 Hr solo a few times. There are a few others on here, too, with a bit of experience with the endurance events.
