Good morning Ken,

It's sort of late notice, but the Park has just confirmed/approved. Can we get this out to the
group please.

Thanks,

Dan

As most of you know, we had a meeting at Santiago Oaks last Tuesday. It was very constructive and provided a far better outlook for the park than what was presented by Roger Bell in the fist proposal.

A revised plan is to be posted online by this Friday, followed by another public meeting on the 16th. Watch for updates at:
http://www.ocparks. com/santiagooaks /
In the meantime, we have received the go-ahead on starting some work. On Sunday, we had a walk through (long hike in the rain) with the new senior ranger, Jim Simkins. He has authorized the repair work and
subsequent opening of some of the park's trails.

The trails he is talking about:
SORP 7 (not yet named)
SORP 2 - Yucca (ex Powerline)
SORP 8 - Coachwhip (ex Wiggly's)
SORP 9 - Giddy-up
And the little signle-track off to the right of the 2nd B that leads up to SOPR7. (not sure if it ever had a name)
BTW, The Park came up with these names. We figured the names mattered less than the actual opening of the trails, so we didn't fight it.

This Saturday, we will be working on Yucca and Coachwhip. Mostly cutting back overgrowth. Also some treadwork and drainage will be needed. These trails will then be opened and will create an additional loop off Barham Ridge.

The plan is to meet at Anaheim Hills Elementary School parking lot (the school on Serrano) at 08:30. It's a little climb from there to the top of Yucca (Powerline).
(Lunch will be provided).

Thanks!

Too bad a lot of us have the camping trip already planned. I would've liked to help.
