Supposedly the course should be marked?
As long as they don't tap the keg till the race is over....then the solo's can have a chance

We are sad to not be having the R&R Catering guys out with us for this race. But we have picked up some great venders to help fill the bill. "Juice It Up" will out there making smoothies, Wetzel pretzels will be out also, plus Vail Lake resort will have the Deli and grocery store open all day long. And just as a thank you for you the racers I have gone out and bought a couple of kegs of beer for after the race. FREE BEER FOR ALL!

I've never done a 12hr or 24hr, but I've really been wanting too. I've never rode the Vail course either, so it would probably be a good idea to check it out first, but what the heck!
I added this to my calendar and may just go for it!!
I'd be riding solo SS, so it should be fun.

Apparently jinx rules are in full effect. Forecast calls for high 80s on race day now.

I'll be heading out to Vail Lake on 6/13 to set up camp and get in a pre-ride. I'll probably arrive around 2-3PM. Anybody else going to be out there early?

We'll drop by to set up our ez-up for a pit spot I think whenever Neil and those guys are planning on getting there, but then we'll be heading back to work.

Actually, we may just stop by after work to get reg packet and set up the ez-up

It's looking like we will not be able to be there until nighttime. Kinda bums me out as I don't really like to set up camp in the dark (not that it'll be all that dark since there will be so many folks right where we are camping, but you know what I mean). I am taking the day off, but I am thinking I have to leave my son in school for the day instead of having him out as I had originally planned on (he's having some difficulty in a few of his classes...). Still haven't totally decided on this as yet, so my plan may change... sorta like the weather. And speaking of that...

"High 80s" is certainly lower than it was last year, and by a fairly big margin (as I mentioned previously, it was 107F all freakin' day long for the June race in 07). That heat was truly unbearable, but nobody died.

See you down there sometime on Friday the 13th...

Friday is Maddie's last day of school so - Once she's out (it's a half day) we'll be on our way. Planning to arrive about 2ish at the latest. Pit setup & pre-ride are our plans too.

You know where we all will be, waiting patiently with smiles and open beers
One good thing about our sites - they are level

I'll take 80's anyday over last year's heat...

I'll be getting there Friday afternoon to set up our pit area. I might preride depending on how I'm feeling.
I need to walk around and meet everyone. I might have met some peopie and don't remember.

So if you see a 5'10" slightly "big boned" guy walking around or riding an orange Dos Niner wave me down and introduce yourself.

Can I get a Roll Call of what campsites people are reserving for Saturday night. We plan to stay the night so we can drink beer and not worry about driving home.

We are going to get a site up on Lower Merlot.

There are several of us that are camping down in the oaks campground - Our sites are:
129-126

We all moved our sites from Lower Merlot to Oaks so we could be closer to the venue during race time.

I'll be pre-riding Snow Summit sunday, does that count?
I might/maybe not do pre-lap on Friday, just depends how I feel and how many "setting up camp beers" I have!

We'll probably be out riding Thursday as usual, but otherwise I don't think we'll be out there from this Saturday til race morning on the course.

Trips me out that you hit the course so much -- wish I could do that. I rode the course cold during my first race back in Jan 07. That first loop was a doozy, for sure, since i didn't know really what I was up against, but I made it through okay.

Yeah, agreed.

Well, after the race we're doing Downieville... not sure what the weekend after, but then 4th we'll probably hit up a few good rides not at Vail

Then possibly some Snow Summit lift runs, and maybe even Tahoe!

I think I'm gonna stay away from racing from this 12 hour race til September.
