I was thinking of starting some long rides on the weekends to begin getting ready for the VQ.
I was thinking of parking at Silverado and Blackstar Canyon; then ride Blackstar to Four Corners, then down Maple Springs back out my truck (+/- 37 miles). If I'm really zapped of energy I can always cut it short and ride down Motorway for a (+/- 27 mile) ride. I plan on parking by 7:30 am will start riding by 8:00 am. |

Oh no, no that ride again *
* *Just something about that 90+ degree day and that ride we did left a bad taste in my mouth for that route. If any of you go, come prepared. Bring LOTS of water and food, goo gel, etc. Temps should be a little nicer this weekend though. If I get my next ride (yes another bike) finished by then I may try it out for this ride since it is going to be a lightweight bike.P.S Adam, I still want to set up a Holy Jim/Trabuco loop ride on of these Sundays. That one time we went up Holy Jim but decided to head up to Santiago Peak which was a heck of a climb in itself, but I've still never made it over to Trabuco and want to try it. |

JamR, you da man! And I ain't... I'm only worth 15-20 miles max. And need to get back in a reasonable time to the wife & kidies... Therefore, anyone interested in a plan "B": El Moro, Turnbull or Marshall Canyon, for Sunday 11/20/05?
p.s. I'm off all next week and hope to ride Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Let me know if you're interested in riding that week. |

Never say never, right? Well, I never got around to converting my hardtail to SS...
But the first thing that needs changing on that ride is the brakes. They were adequate out east, but 6 year old avids don't do much to stop me in cali. Jenson's got some LX's for cheap, but there is always money to be spent on other things...darn you, trashed cassette body, teflon-coated, sweet-shifting cables, flat uber-light handlebar, food, rent, etc, etc. ![]() |
