Is the Forest Service planning to do the repair work to the Dozer damage on Motorway or will they allow volunteer trail maintenance groups (Warriors, SHARE, ect.) to get involved?

Default The Luge

As the winter night riding season approaches, my mind wanders (frequently) to the current status of the Luge.

My understanding is that both the Luge and STT are in real good condition, thanks to the back-breaking labor of the Warrior's Society and others over the past months.

So, do any of the Warriors have an inside scoop on when STT and the Luge may reopen?

If said status is already posted on this website, and I am too lame to find it, please feel free to direct me.
Thanks!

That was a pretty tough find. I typed "Luge" in the search box, and got this thread.

Saturday morning ride at luge!

The Luge is part of the closed section of the National Forest which will NOT be part of the section that is scheduled to open in NOV. The Luge and Harding Truck Trail will remain closed after NOV.

Check this thread for updates. It is a "sticky" in the trailhead section.

Some folks don't care to be informed or take the time to find out and act as if they don't know when confronted. I'm hoping they re-open it soon.

This really baffles me. There is no compelling reason for STT/Luge to remain closed. If the other parts of the forest open and this remains closed, it will be a poachfest.

For that matter, as soon as the time changes and it's dark after work, there will be a steady stream of lights on this loop.

The forest service service needs to get their act together. This is BS.

Other parts of the forest closure that are reopening did not burn like the Harding and STT. The devasation(sp?) was greater at the Luge/Old Camp than it was on the Silverado Motorway.

That may very well be, but I believe my point is still valid. There is no compelling reason for this loop to remain closed as evidenced by photos of WS rides in the area.

The vast majority of bikers have obeyed the closures but like most, my patience is wearing thin.

I agree...and having hikers and bikers present on the trails will discourage illegal 4x4 use which is going on. Perhaps they should just open it for night riding as it is highly unlikely that anyone is going to be blazing new trails at night.

My thoughts on it as well,

PS if they want people to stay out of the closed section they should at least close the gate up on main divide
