Default Topanga State Park Ride, Sun., Oct 9th 7AM

Ride info;
Approx. 30 miles with 4000+ feet of climbing; fun singletrack descents, and smooth climbing.

Where:
Meet @ Caballero Canyon approx. 3 miles south of the 101 when you Exit Reseda Blvd. in the city of Encino

When:
Sunday, Oct 9th @ 7 am SHARP.

Route;
Up Caballero Canyon to Mullholland, then to the Hub, do the Eagle Rock loop as an out and back. Then from the Hub to Will Rogers State Park thru the Backbone Trail down to Sunset Bvld, take Amalfi to Sulivan Ridge back up to Mulholland then down Caballero Canyon.

I would not recommend this ride to beginners because of the length. Also, the only real "big" climb is at the end of the ride, it will be an absolute grind for a beginner. It may also be abit fast paced.

This is a fun loop and i might even ride abit more afterwards (another full loop, depending on the weather/heat).

you can find some ride info and pics here;
http://singletrackmind.com/Trails/Su...idge_Index.htm

We are doing the same basic loop, but starting from Caballero Canyon.

Default nope....

this ride looks lke a no go.

with the fires that burned last week, the sana ana winds and dry-as-hell brush, a few of the trails for this ride are closed.

will rogers is closed as are trails that lead to/from The Hub.

argh, maybe next week.

for now, let's cancel this ride, officially.

any other ideas?

it takes less than 2 hours to get to Potato from Oak Mesa, so plan on a good 3 hour ride.

should be 17 miles with out adding the Claremont loop, 22 miles if we do

meet at Oak Mesa School/park on Wheeler *at 7 am

Default Kam Carpoop

Looks like I am taking the plunge to head up to north of L.A. on Sunday. I will be going up the 405 freeway to the 101. Are you any where close that we could car pool and save/split the Liquid Gold (gasoline) cost to make the drive. I can maybe try the I-5 since it is Sunday with no traffic. Let me know. Will check the board and take your cell with me. Later.

mingo....you might be better off coming straight up the 5 frwy. come thru east l.a. and take the 101 north thru hollywood. take the reseda exit, make a left.

from there, drive down reseda about 3 miles. you'll see a huge clearing off the left side and a sign for the canyon, you can't miss it. parking is on either side of the street.

i am not too far off the frwy, but i might need to pick someone up off the 60 frwy. near the 710 (Ben).

Default Great Ride in Topanga Canyon

Armando picked another great ride in the Santa Monica Mountains. The group was ten plus strong (Kam, Ben, Armando and myself were the core group and we met the others at different points). Topanga Canyon is a great place to ride even being surround by homes and cities in the distance. Weather was perfect. Nice to go to new places and experience new ground. A little bit of everything. Single Track, Bitch of a hill climb, Techinical Single Track (hike a bike/difficult enough to satisfy any downhill junkie) and great view points. Others should try and hook up with us on another weekend to get a good solid ride. Ride was about 5-6 hours. Don't let the drive time scare you off. You will be rewarded at the end of a great ride to remember!

P.S. That last hill climb (3-4 miles of non-stop elevation gain) kicked my ass!! Legs are a little sore.

Jose....hope you made it to your soccer game on time.

the rider should have only took maybe 4 hrs max, since we are all solid riders. alot of people and quite a few stops and mechanicals made this a long day.

that last time is always an arse-kicker.

hopefully, we will do this ride again. maybe a smaller group for a faster ride for us family guys.

great to see everyone yesterday, we had a really awesome group of riders.
