Today Myself,rockinthecasbah,duke777,jpwizard,dewienberg 01 and two of his friends ( all three of them Representing the San Bernardino Sheriffs dpt) rode. Chino.Well lets say it was very interesting. We climbed up the road on the chino side and turned left onto some single track. This is where the fun began.Started out ok and then it became a jungle. The first tree branch we hit on the trail was full of ants and everybody but me ( i was In back) got covered in ants.About that time I felt a sting on my leg, ewhh tick.So we trudge on and the trail just disappears. We were handle bar high in stinging needles and various other bugs, grass, and unknown stuff.90 percent of it had to be walked. We got our trail work in, bikes and feet serving as lawn mowers. It took us two hours to go three miles. We got of the single track and just decided everything was way to over grown. So we take a little break, refill our water ( we all went through a lot of water)snack and the head up south ridge. We get near the top of south ridge and say screw lets turn around and take the road out to get some lunch. It was just to over grown to have any fun. Went to Back woods BBQ grubbed and had a good time. The was a lot of funny things being said today. Now see the pictures. In some of the pics you can barley see the trail we made. The pic of the glove if you look close you can see a tick.

I rode all of Fenceline just a couple weeks ago and it was nowhere near that bad. Trail disappeared for only a few hundred yards. Glad I hit it up when I did. I bet Raptor is gonna be swallowed up in no time too.

Thanks for the RR and the pix bighit. It was definitely tough going on the single track. Felt like Rambo but with out the machete. HUGE biting ants, ticks, and every type of plant we came across had either sharp points or some sort of cutting edge. Everyone's leg were all cut up. After crashing and slipping a few times I decided to walk and stomp rest of the ST.
Never the less I had a great time! Beautiful day, great company and good food, what more could anyone ask for? ![]()

Not surprising that East Fenceline Trail is overgrown since it sees such little traffic. I think Bane Ridge and Raptor will be in much better shape since they get a lot of riders, hikers, and equestrians coming through.
Great pics guys. Looks like you guys started at the beginning of Fenceline with steep drop in. I wonder if the last two thirds of the trail are in as bad of shape. I may do some weed whacking this weekend. Anyone have a machete to loan me?

from what i could see it looks like raptor was pretty well swallowed along with almost all the east single tracks, the SE section of aliso looked ridable
brewmaster now you have another excuse to hate that trail, looks like its grown enough we may loose it the second half of fenceline was not ridable either as far as i could see from the fire road |

Thanks Rick.
It's all good though. In a few months when the brush dries out, we will be able to ride those trails and make them new again.

Yep, that's East Fenceline. I did that once when the vegetation was that high - never again.
I agree - Can't one of you locals sneak a weedwhacker in there? It's so remote nobody would hear. One of those push along horizontal brush mowers would make quick work of it and turn it into a full-year trail. CHSP is one park where a little gas-powered maintenance would be great! |
