Definitely a good, long ride today w/ Mike. Went up Holy Jim to Main Divide, then over to and down Trabuco. First time riding those trails, and I was impressed. The section of Main Divide we traveled was longer than I'd expected, and with a substantial amount of climbing. I've got renewed respect for the Vision Questers--this was but a small portion of that route, and it worked me pretty hard. Still can't contemplate the whole thing...yet.

Mike definitely held his own, considering this was only his second "real" ride (his words). Think he just might be hooked, but he can talk more about that himself.

Good seeing the other guys, if only at the end for a few minutes. Will set my clock ahead 15 minutes for the next one...

Default Holy Jim to trabucco trail review

Yah I flaked pretty bad and showed up at His truck around 7:20 ''
( not a trait of my character, I blame the girlfriend for a long saturday night) Dell was definatley a cool guy to ride with and did a good job navagating the trail and making me push myself. On one of the off - camber switchbacks on holy jim I ate crap real bad and fell like 15 feet down the mountain until I grabbed a piece of vegetation that saved me. ( I was like damm what did I get myself into) but I kept going only to fall agian into like a 10 foot pit off to the right ( glad I don't have clip-ons). I thought I could ride up some loose stuff and fell to the right but luckily I dumped my bike and bailed or else I would have been down for the count. I just kept at it and in some sections I decided to walk the bike through rather than practice my skills on the side of a cliff. When me and dell got to the main divide I was like sweet that has to be the worse... not!. The climb up main divide was pretty tough but was managable. The trubucco trail had large uneven rocks and I even flew over the handlebars but was okay. The downhill was a blast and made all that climbing worth it. I don't mind falling and getting cut up because it's worth it. Other than that I feel fine and am looking forward to the next ride. Did you guys see that rolled white Bronco WTF?

Great ride today guys. Thanks for the Clif bar Matt. I found my missing one back at the truck in the console. I thought I was going crazy on top of Santiago. The weather was great and no blood spilled in our group. Let's do this again.

Yep... fun ride today! * *

Climbing Holy Jim seemed to go by fast (2 hours). *Then we went up to the peaks from their. *I just kinda wanted to get up and get the climbing overwith untill my damn chain broke (again, happened last ride too!). * * *But climbing up to the top was worth it with all the downhill. *Holy Jim was better that I thought comming down!!

hehe ya no crahses in our group. * but Mike I give you a lotta respect for keep charging the trails after those crashes, cuz i'm sure a lotta guys would just give up...

Matt

This was an awesome ride yesterday. I'll post pictures tomorrow, I forgot the camera at home this morning. My legs are aching pretty good today. For only being an 8 mile climb or so, it really kicks your butt! Going to the peak/towers was one of our goals for me and Rob and it was cool to finally do it. No serious injuries, although OCRIDER almost got decapitated by the large tree that had fallen across the trail on the lower creek section of Holy Jim on our way back down. We did see a pretty cool King Snake (I believe) also on the lower creek section, I got a couple pix of it.

Was a bummer we missed Del and Mike, it was cool to see them though as they finished up. Thanks for the donut Dell, it sat really good in my stomach with the Gatorade as we drove out the bumpy road.
