Default Scouting Santa Rosa Plateau Loop

The route can be seen here:
http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=2075

I'm planning to scout this area for the next newbie ride. I have never been through this trail so I'm not aware if there are BBQ areas, nearby bars, cats, cougars, and the occasional appearances of Camp Snoopy. I can do this either Saturday or Sunday depending on how many people want to come along to check this out. Plan to be there by 7am.

Edit: Saturday at 7am looks to be the better day for most!

Sat please? Sunday We'll be in BB for another fun filled day in the snow. Dave (26zenmaster) happens to think he's faster than Neil down the hill So we have some unfinished business to take care of if you know what I mean (This is the funfilled day! watching Dave EAT SNOW)

For Sat - i'm just working out some issues - Maddie has BMX clinic at 11am in Orange that i'd like to be there for and Neils got a shop ride in the am with a *newbie* at the loop. So i'm working on a sleepover at the cousins house.

Will we be done by 10ish?

If you get more interest for Sunday - It's all good - I'll just be there when you plan the *newbie ride*

I'm hoping to be done by 10am. Maybe start out way early like a 7am or something. Bluerat knows the way so I think covering 6-7 miles will be pretty fast. If he is unable to make it, I might be getting a little lost.

I can't be certain of that. I'm sure Neil has you prepped to be the dark horse to smoke anyone in your path.

I'm figuring out how I want to get there. I live in Foothill so I can take Ortega but I believe Duan mentioned there is construction going on and traffic blows. However, taking the 241, 91E, to the 15 is painful way of going around. I need a huge laser beam on my car so I can burrow right through the mountain to the other side.

I'll stop by tomorrow to pick up a map of the trails out there, and email it to you.

Saturday would be better for me also ... early or late, I have the day open.

How much of a beginner ride are you looking for? Most of Santa Rosa is "very beginner" but there can be a couple of challenging spots.

Saturday early. I'm thinking 7am if possible? I certainly don't want to scare people away but I don't want to bore them either. We can check it out and decide from there. I'm not sure if you have road Aliso but I probably wouldn't send beginners down Lynx or Rock-It which might etch fear in their minds forever.

I've not ridden Aliso ...

I can show you a wide range of trails at SRP and then help you map out what you'd like for your organized ride.

Edit: 7 am is just fine for me.

There's nothing overly challenging about SRP. For someone who has literally never ridden a mountain bike before there are spots they may want to walk, but the vast majority of the trails are smooth. I'd say about 600ft of climbing if you do the route we normally do. 1-2 very steep climbs, and a few sections with rocks that may make a beginner nervous, but otherwise it's really beginner friendly.

Take the Ortegas. There's no traffic, they just stop you for like 4 or 5 minutes because part of the road is always a one lane road, so they have to direct traffic. It'll take a lot longer to go around and it'll be a boring ride. The Ortegas are fun to drive and better scenery.

When you get to the bottom of the Ortega in Lake Elsinore, turn right on Grand and go all the way until you hit Clinton Keith road, then turn right and go up.
