Default Chumash Hummingbird/Johnson Motorway

Sun. Feb. 24: Chumash Hummingbird/Johnson Motorway. A- Level, Technical skills and good endurance required. We will climb Chumash Trail to the fireroad and then ride the swooping and fun fireroad to the Hummingbird Trail, we will descend Hummingbird, a technical and challenging downhill that tests the skills of the best riders. At the bottom we will turn around and make the brutal, but short climb/push back up Hummingbird. Then we will return to Johnson Motorway via the fire road, (a nasty fire road climb back) and descend the motorway for a sweet, rocky, Moab like downhill. The closest thing to Porcupine Rim as you can get in So. Cal. At the bottom we turn around and climb back up (this is not a ride for anyone who does not like “out and backs”). All of this so we can return to Chumash and enjoy a climatic blast back to the cars that will bring adrenaline to your burning legs and tears to your tired eyes. Ride is 18 miles. Obviously anyone who wishes can skip any section after Chumash climb. No water available on ride; in summer bring lots, can be hot. Hard rain day/night before or morning of ride cancels. Misty, foggy, icky, cold does NOT. ChumashHumJohnson

Directions: 405N, 118E, From the 118 freeway exit at Yosemite. Head north or towards McDonalds on Yosemite. Go <1 mile and turn right on Flanagan, follow this street about 1+ mile through residential area up hill and towards the left, Chumash trailhead is at the end of the street. Park on street and please respect the residents peace. About a 55-minute drive from the South Bay. If it rains the previous day, ride may be cancelled. Please confirm with ride leader.

Leader: Ken. mtbken@kmmiller.net or (81 590-8164. Start Time: 9 a.m.

Looks like an old cut and paste job... are these rides your posting part of a club/group or something? might be good to intro yourself or include that info.

If this is this the same Biker Bonnie from San Diego who used to post on Socalmtb then some of you better look out! She can ride and talk with the best of them.

If anyone is curious, looks like this is a CORBA event. http://76.162.95.188/cgi-bin/calenda...nt&event_id=58

Denmother, actually this is a South Bay ride and I'm the one leading it. I didn't realize BonnieBiker had posted it to STR as well as the CORBA's newsletter. I just noticed it here on STR tonight. Maybe she mentioned to me she posted it elsewhere and I just don't recall (I forget things the wife tells me as well). Glad I spotted it because no one had RSVPed by the usual way for a South Bay ride and I didn't know STR folks would be looking at it. Here's where the original posting is: http://www.sbmbc.com/newsletter.php?c=200802

The radar map right now looks like rain is coming in. So I expect the ride to be canceled. If you're in doubt please send me a PM or call my number listed in the posting above. That's an 8 where the is. Unfortunately since BonnieBiker posted it I can't change it or update it to say it's canceled (at least I don't think I can).

JoeTruth, it's not the Biker Bonnie from San Diego.

RIDE CANCELED due to the rain. As expected, it's currently raining pretty hard here in the valley and it's expected to continue Sunday morning. I'm canceling the ride. This ride is planned to be rescheduled on the South Bay calendar for March 30. I'll add it to the STR calendar when their schedule is finalized. (Sorry nintense that's also a Sunday.)
