STR's Invasion of "The Westside" again...

Where: North Backbone up Malibu mountains. kanan-Dume Rd. to Corral Canyon , and all the way back to Kanan.
When: Saturday March 22, 2008
Time: 8am - please try to be ready about 8am.
Distance: 15 Miles
Skill Level: Advance.
What To Expect: Rolling hills (one steep and technical - walkable). Mostly singletrack, climbs and DH sections.
Ride Leader: Nir Tal (aka NINTENSE)

Note: If you have arm/elbow pads- bring them along. While not necessary, some sections encourage to ride faster than your abilities. Up to you...

Please bring along your charged 2 way radio, I'll be on channel 6 / 36.

Meet at kanan-Dume Rd. in the parking lot before the third bridge (frome Agoura Hills) at 8am.

Sorry we have to bail on this one. A long time ago we promised to help Gene with a newbie ride at Marshall Canyon whenever they decided to have one. Well it's on 3/22. :-(

Maybe you guys can reschedule this one and come with us!!!

It's too far to stand with my tough schedule.
If Dino and Epic wanna do the Marshall, I don't mind to stay local and reschedule.

I think its a self payment fee... so if you have a luck, you won't get a ticket.

Dino, Incycle will be doing tune-up before th Marshal Cyn ride, you could knock two things out at the same time.....and then do the Westside ride a few weeks later.

I have never heard of a payment fee for parking at the trailhead for the 3rd tunnel ride. That would be new.

Yes, this is the 3rd tunnel ride.

This is a sweet ST ride, one of my favorites in the Santa Monica mtns. So if your thinking about doing this ride, DON"T(think that is). Just come out and ride. The weather is perfect and this trail rocks.

I think I should be able to make this. If anyone is going from South OC and they want to carpool let me know. Also I have never ridden there, if I get directions from the Google map above does that put me at the parking lot where you will be meeting.

Yes, the google map puts you in the lot at the trailhead. Coming from OC if you coming up the 405N, I think you can hit PCH around Santa monica and take that up to Kanan rd. drive thru the first tunnel and parking lot is right there on the left. I'm not sure if that's quicker or not.

would depend on traffic, if the 405/101 interchange is a mess or anywhere along the 101 your best bet would be the 405 N to the 10 W which will run you right onto PCH (turns into PCH, no exit ramp) and then just follow it up to Kanan.

If the trafic is lite then heading up the 405 to the 101 to Kanan would be faster.

Seeing as your ride is at 08:00hrs you should not hit much traffic if any at all but i would still listen to the traffic reports when you are getting close to the 10 fwy because once you cross that point you will be stuck if there is traffic and not have a lot of options unless you know the area.
