The ride sometimes starts at 8:30, but I don't think it's ever started at 8:15... Personally, I'd prefer a 9:00 AM SHARP start time. I.E. meet up at 8:30, on the dirt by 9:01. I think more people would show up in general.

Its pretty easy. It has some good climbs but they are all short. It is about 12 miles, or you can bail out in section if you get tired.

I'll be coming with my girlfriend, who's ridden the loop many times. We're expecting to bring two of her friends. One who's ridden only a part of the loop before, and she'll be riding my 4X bike, so she'll be gear challenged. She's a full-on newbie. Her other friend supposedly owns a mountain bike, but has never really ridden before, I believe.
So, if some of you are worried about the trail, don't be. If you're feeling overly tires, there are several sections where you can shortcut. I will be riding the Acura Bike Tour up in LA earlier in the morning. After that, I have to jam home, load up bikes and women, then head to the Loop. That's why I may be a bit late. Water needs are a bit harder to predict. It depends on your average hydration level. I generally prefer to have too much water, than not enough. If you have too much, you can always pour some out as you realize you're not going to use it all. You may want to ask someone to carry a 12-16 oz bottle of water, if you have to. Additionally, it depends how long you're on the trail. If I'm riding solo, and I'm going to blast through the loop, I don't need to carry water. If I'm doing a group ride where I may be out there a couple two or three hours, I surely want some. By the way, you can start your hydration up to three days in advance by drinking plenty of water. This will make your reserves fuller for when you're out on the trail.

That's right Lee are we doing your extra credit at the end?
![]() I have a shorter "stem" (I think it is) on my handle bars. Then come the slick tires (is it slick tires?) Lee I think the bike is perfect for the extra credit, I don't think I need to duck to avoid the branches. I am stressing about all the changes on my bike. Is it still my bike? Okay but Julia12 doesn't need my bike or does she? I am so confused. I'll see you all in the morning and don't anybody worry - I know all the shortcuts and if anybody needs to ride back, I volunteer to ride back with them. I haven't been on my bike almost two weeks. I am looking forward to the ride but I know my lungs will be hurting. -Elvia

Guys, just to review:
Following 2Wheel_lee ANYWHERE = bad idea. Unless of coarse, you're Chuck Norris. Remember, this guys wins pro races. His idea of "easy" or "no problem" is not in line with reality.
