Not only have the Sunday rides gotten much larger lately, but the newer riders have really improved their skills and stamina.

Just an idea - for those interested, we could add a little optional loop onto the regular ride. I remember that finishing a second Fully Loop was a pretty big deal for me when I started riding. Here's a variation that I ride every so often:

After passing through the tunnels, stay to the left and pass the two entrances into the jungle. When you get to the stable veer to the left.

This is a well marked path. On our left we will pass a sports field, some homes and an elderly-assistance residence

This is a small uphill that leads you to Brea Blvd

You will cross at the intersection. I always go to the right towards the Union Oil ball fields.

Once again, the trail is easy to follow. Soon you'll come upon the backside of Coyote Hills Golf Course. We're heading up to the homes in the background.

From here we hit a little gravel and then start a longer, but steady climb. If you can finish the regular loop without feeling like your lungs want to jump out of your chest, you can make this climb.

OK, we're at the top of the hill and we'll follow the road to the left. For Fully locals, we're now up on Skyline / Ladera Vista.

We've now got a 1/4 mile gradual uphill past some amazing homes - this is the high rent district!

At the crest of the paved road we'll detour to our left and into the Panorama Park Open Area. There's another small hill (the climbing is adding up) and soon we'll arrive at a sweet view point. I took this picture last Monday in the overcast. The camera is iffy, but you could easily see downtown LA and the Hollywood sign.

Looking the other way, you've got Chino Hills in the background.

From here, you'll finally get some easy downhill (be carefull of the golf cart crossings!) At this fence, you'll take a sharp left and enjoy a nice downhill ride back to Brea Blvd. That's Bastanchury Road in the background.

Once you get to Brea Blvd., just follow the path back to the cross walk and enter back into the trail that will dump you at an entrance to the jungle.

Here's the link to the Geoladders route. http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=1364

Instead of 11.3 miles, you'll now get in 15.5. The climbing increases from 930 ft. to 1320 ft.

Anyone up for a little extra Sunday Social time?

Yeah, I am definately down to do the extra mileage! It's getting disapointing (well, bitter sweet) looking at my heart rate monitor saying I used to burn 1200 calories for one loop down to like 800 now... This would help out in that respect (I don't think I'm quite ready to do a second lap!!!). I don't know about this Sunday but Sundays in the future, I would LOVE to do this!!! Thanks for the idea OTHRider!

I will not be there, can't change my RSVP to a No though. I fell hard at Oaks today and hurt my wrist (think it's just a sprain). Will try to stop by before you guys take off but not sure I'll make it.

I fell hard and "thought" I sprained my wrist...had it xrayed anyway....negitive...no break...BUTwhat didn't show was a small fracture and 2 yrs later(b/c there was no pain) I had to have surgery b/c the small fracture healed open....

My point is have it xrayed now and again in a month just to be safe....

The website's being wonky today.

Well anyway, it was a good ride this morning. Very small group and we sure did miss Pugz. (Hope the wrist is ok.) Some new faces which is always nice. Some mechanicals, but that just keeps us on our toes. Hope to see everyone out there next time.

To bad I missed this ride but there was no way I could ride, I could have gripped the bars but not been able to shift, plus I found a number of quite painful busies on the hips and thighs this morning.

Hopefully next week.

Out of curiosity what happened. I mean I assume your 40+ lb 4x bike beat you up but I want details.

edit: thanks for the link, my powers of observation are less than stellar. I really need to make it out to some races sometime.

Pretty much explains it here. Still waiting to see if there are any photos of the crash, none on my Camera that Dino was using.
