Dosen't look like this weather is going to let up till late Saturday don't know how the Loop handles water, but it looks like this is in trouble. And I was really hoping to hit the dirt this weekend too.

Well, technically, the "unwritten rule" (it's written if it's a Regional Park) is that trails are closed 3 days following a rain...which would mean Monday.

I was at Fully yesterday afternoon hoping to beat the heavy rain...there are only a couple sections that got really wet. At least 70% of Fully was rideable without making mud or even leaving tire tracks. Some little parts were even still bone dry and dusty under the canopy. I would think that as long as the rain lets up, a Sunday ride would be OK.

As I'm typing this, the sun just popped out in Anahiem/GG...and it was dry all night too...so I'm guessing Fully is getting the same thing. Judging by the trail condition after the rain let up yesterday, I'm thinking 48 hours would be sufficient, so long as there's no more rain between now and then!

I'll go check it out tomorrow and leave an update unless someone beats me to it.

I live up near the Coyote Hills (northern) part of the trail and got some sprinkling around 8am. It's been dry since.

Go away rain!

EDIT: as of 11:50a the sun is breaking through

Well, we DO need the rain...but it sucks on Mem. Day Weekend which is typically a HUGE weekend for outdoor activities!

Well...since Sam's birthday ride looks like it won't happen, we'd like to perhaps do this if it still goes down on Sunday. Never been there, but the GF and I are dying to discover new stuff (we're both intermediate, she's more of an intermediate newb). Of course, it'd be nice to meet all of ya!

Hopefully that rain will stay away!

As of this morning the ride is still a go, if anyone happens to be in the area check out the trail and let us know how it is. If anything changes I will post it on here.

Pretty much all the OC Parks are OPEN, and the rain has moved out of SoCal. It should be OK.

I rode the loop for two laps yesterday (friday)- the place is awesome after a rain. No dust, great traction, barely any mud - should be perfect. See y'all there - with cookies!!

Rode the loop today. You can't tell it rained except for some damp spots. The loop is pretty dry and in good shape. The only wet spot was the railroad tracks but I used the boards. It was nice and wide open.

Just did a mini upper loop of West Coyote Tree Hills Park and Cardiac Hill (to test my new DiNotte 200L-AA headlight) and all is well. See you guys tomorrow!

The DiNotte is way better than my Maglite Mini AA.

So I took the Tank out, it rode amazing well up the climbs for a bike thats pushing 40lbs and is 1x9 with a 36 tooth front ring. Shouldn't have tried to do the root section after the tunnel, my endo tailwhip to almost falling in the river wasn't a lot of fun.

Thanks to everyone (and especially Donny) for showing Sherri and I the ropes on this loop since it was our first time. It was nice meeting everyone and we enjoyed the pace on this ride. Hope to not take the shortcut next time!

We'll probably make it out again next week.

Great ride everyone! Good to see new faces as well as familiar ones. That's the whole point I guess - Riding with old buddies and bringing new ones into the fold of this cool sport. I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing that keeps me in shape, is so much fun and challenging/new all the time. For the newbies: If you ride with the group regularly, you WILL get faster, and better bike handling skills. I have ridden/raced bikes all my life, but until I started riding with STR, I kinda plateau-ed, and was a bit bored riding alone. My fitness level was ok, but I couldn't get under a certain weight. I can now exclaim that my Oakley shorts I bought about 6 months ago that fit VERY snug,I have to use a belt with them now to keep from mooning those behind me. Can you say eeeeew? Anyway, heres some pics from Sunday's ride.
