Great ride today guys! Nice group today and met a lot of new faces. This was the longest ride I've ever done and it was a challenge but I really enjoyed it. Nothing better than a ride with a great group like we had today. We'll have to plan another ride soon.....Holy Jim to Trabuco maybe?

Definitely a great ride and great people to ride with.

Also my longest ride for quite some time, and I was completely exhausted by the time I got back to my truck (a little dehydrated also).

It got pretty hot coming back down Blackstar.

Still, I'm looking forward to the next trip. Holy Jim/Trabuco sounds great.

I'll get the photos from today's ride up in the album section by tomorrow afternoon as soon as I get home from work.

I'm almost as jealous as I am out of shape. Bike has been out of commission for over a month now, and I'm about at the end of my rope. But that's a sad story for another thread, I suppose...

Anyway, what route did you end up taking? JamR mentioned it was hot heading back down Blackstar. Does this mean you did an out-and-back along the Main Divide? What was the total mileage? Aaarrgghh, to have a working bike...

Looking forward to the vicarious journey when the pics are posted.

We went up Blackstar to Main Divide, then down the Motorway back to the cars. Total mileage was 26 I believe. JamR said he was going to head over to Maple Springs on Main Divide.....but not sure how far he went or which way he came down. It was pretty warm out there, at leas the last 6 miles or so were pretty much a downhill road ride.

I was frying for the last 12 miles or so. I made it to the Harding/Maple Springs intersection then just retraced the route. Total of 44 miles I believe.

I had a tough time on that one nasty climb heading back between Maple Springs and Motorway (the hike-a-bike was especially tough on that hill).

The rest of the ride was pretty smooth except for the climb up to the last set of towers just before getting back to the golf ball. Finally, once I started the coast back down Blackstar from Beeks place, it seemed that there was a hot blast of air in my face the whole way down, and I was pretty dehydrated when I got to my truck.

It still was a great ride and I'd like to do it again on a much "cooler" day.

Watch for the photos tomorrow, and we'll start planning another trip shortly.

Nice to meet everyone today.

p.s. how was the conditions on Motorway today?

Motorway was a bit looser than last time I rode it, also a bit dustier. Overall still in good condition but a bit overgrown down towards the bottom. There were a few crashes on the left hander with the deep rut in the middle, but nothing serious.

Sorry guys... I totally bailed on the ride yesterday...

Had to pick up a friend in LAEC.....

JamR: wow that is one longggg ride!! Where you by yourself going to 4Corners?

HolyJim sounds fun!! that is one trail I have not ridden yet? Whats the mileage of HJ to Trabucco?

Also is it best to climb HJ and go down Trabucco? Cuz I heard descending HJ was awesome. Are we thinking Saturday or Sunday for this one?

I really wanted to do this one, but circumstance and a summer cold have kept me off the bike for too long.
Holy Jim sounds great for the next one.

Oops,

I guess it only takes three pics on this thread.

Look in the Album under "Other Trails"

Nice pics Adam. It wouldn't let you post more pics in another reply? I think it limits you to 3 in a reply, but I could be wrong

You're right......it took me a couple of times to figure it out.

I put up 14 pics in the "Album" section under "Other Trails"

The group shot at the top of Motorway came out pretty nice.

See everyone on the next ride

Default Great Ride on Sunday

Everyone gettings a pat on the back and a thumbs up for the ride on Sunday. Dusty, loose and steep. Great training ride. The heat was on at the end. Everyone made it home safe. Keep me posted for the next ride. I have been out of town and just returned Tues night. I will be riding at Aliso Woods for some training loops at around 5 or 6 pm. If anyone wants to join let me know. Great Photos.

great job to all who made itto the ride!!!. a group of 9 riders was great, lots of fun and lauhghs.

Adam & Pete: great pix, gentlemen!! always nice to have some documentation

Idea: what about a group ride at Big Bear?? we can crank out a lot of miles of fun single track, plus it would be great to go out there as a group before summer ends and they close the lifts.
