Each lap is only 10 miles and it's a really fun course. It's a great place for someone to do their first 24 hour event.

Lots of support, movies at night, popcorn, midnight corn roast, spinners to warm up on before your lap, light charging stations, and convenient camping along the course line.

Bringing this thread back to the original content with a different date.

I'm still planning on a nice long easy spin up Blackstar to the peak on Sunday July 10th if anyone wants to join in.

Again, I stress that this is going to be an easy paced ride just to put some extended time in the saddle.

Planning on an 8:00 start at the intersection of Santiago Canyon and Silverado (in the dirt lot just across from Blackstar Road)

Who's in for that morning?

I'll be there. Do we have an exact planned route?

The final route will be a moving target and we'll decide it on the fly.

Basically I plan on riding up blackstar to the main divide, the take the divide all the way to the peak.

Once there we can decide on the return trip route since there's plenty of options.

Bring plenty of water and some snacks for the top.

Blackstar's OC territory right?

I might make it depending on how quickly I recover from this allergy...

I haven't ridden in 3 weeks.

Looking to join in on some rides. Average mtn. biker So-So lungs and legs. Just trying to find a group to ride with. Is Sat still open or is it just Sunday? New riders OK? Let me know.

Tired of riding solo.

Hi Adam,

What sort of elevation gain are we talkiing about here? i'm interested, but would like to know about how many hours do you think we'll do it in since *i'm not familiar with that ride and i have to work at 4 pm

Also, I'll be joining Kam on MTBR.com who posted a ride on there for the same area, maybe we can start from the same location at 7am, that would work best. the bigger the group the better.

here's a link to his post on mtbr.com: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=112701

I'm up for at least part of a Black Star ride, but I think 7:00 is better this time of year due to the heat. I'll probably stick with the standard Black Star - Motorway loop.

That sounds like my kind of loop. With the heat a 50 miler just isn't something I want to try at this point. I'd also vote for an earlier start time.

Just got back in town last night from a looooong week of traveling, but it was nice to come back and see that the ride for Sunday is shaping up.

I think the 7:00 am start is a better choice to beat some of the heat and the flies.

Again, we'll just plan on making up the ride as we go. Definitely at least up Blackstar to the top of Motorway where it sounds like some people will be splitting off to go down Motorway.

At that point we can just keep adding to the trip with options. (ie...from the top of Motorway to the top of Harding, then make another decision from there)

Either way it should be a nice morning of riding and exploring.

See ya at Blackstar at 7:00 am.

I usually park at the dirt area at Silverado and Blackstar instead of at the gate.

So is Maple Springs still open? I know the Motorway drops out right at the beginning and we'd probably be ok, but just wondering

I don't know the status of Maple Springs

I assume it's closed at this point since the last time I spoke with the forest service in April, the general plan was to close it around the first week of June.

Hey all,
I'm new to this forum. I may make it to Sunday's ride but don't wait for me as I may not (girlfriend).

Epic...let me know if you are doing Big Bear for sure Tuesday. I may make that one too.

This post sounds flakey.

Plus the cross country team is eating away at my legs

I have no more excuses.. I'll see if I can make it
