Default Sunday ride in the Laguna's

Read all about it! The Mann's take a Sunday off from training to hit up the Laguna mountains for a fun ride.

Justin's non biking buddy from AZ will be in town so we're going to do a fun ride for a change!

Meet at BLT around 9:30-10 am (time subject to change) for a loop out around the lake, up Middle Earth and back down, along the lake, down BMX, back up Noble Canyon to the trailhead.

For mileage... the BLT loop is like 10 miles, so adding on the climb/descent and descent/climb I'm gonna guess will add on maybe another 5-10? The BLT loop is essentially flat. Middle Earth should be a nice climb considering we won't have just climbed Indian Creek..

We only descent BMX to the road (maybe 1-2 miles?) then climb back out.

Should be a fun ride!

Expect a few hours out there, and hopefully everyone can wait til we get to Rita's in El Cajon for food.

Hmm. Is there a way to find out? I'd rather not ride in the snow. Remember--I'm a pansy.

You could drive up there and look. If the ground is white, there's snow!

I have no idea. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Our ride on Condor Peak on the 12th had snow and that may not have been as high as the Noble area!
I did Noble in the snow once, the upper section. It was a blast. Like a luge!

Yeah, we aren't actually hitting much of Noble proper. it's more just Big Laguna area. Snow won't be a problem on the loop I don't think.. climbing and descending it may be.

I am now a maybe... Two rides for a total of abour 45 miles and my new Pike started to make a loud clunking sound. I actually thought it was my headset coming loose. The LBS (Bicycle Warehouse Temecula) that I bought it at took it apart and went through it with R. Shox and could not find anything wrong. So they are sending it back, and Sram is sending out a new one. I just am not sure I will have it in time... We will see....

PS: I know Bicycle Warehouse is not as hip and cool as many of the favorites shops on this site but for all of you that are close it is worth going in. The guys that work there are all very helpful and pleasent, if not always the most knowledgeable. And they have some good sales. The fork was 20% off, I think I paid 620 plus tax. Not to mention the tax revenue stays here also... Someone has to pay for the new "artwork" on the Freeway overpasses, that crap cost the city 171 thousand dollars!!! Anyway, give them a shot, I have been very pleased...

Allison, you're not taking a day off, you just want to ride the new bike!

Don't blame you.

Hate to derail my own thread, but... they've always been over priced and understocked for what we are looking for. However, we were in search of frame saver tape on Friday after work... none of the moto shops on the edge of Temecula/Murrieta had clear, and the guy at BW said they didn't have any, but went to ask someone else.. came out with a small sheet of little circles of frame saver and gave it to us for free.

Ride is kinda weather dependent at the moment.. I think they probably got snow in the Laguna's this weekend.

We WILL be riding somewhere!! For a fun recreational slower paced ride.

When will you be deciding on the destination/route?

So far it is just us and Steph/Dan, so we can decide Sunday morning

Anyone know what the weather is like up there?

Default Laguna weather

For those looking to ride up in the Laguna Mountains, here is a link to the weather site up on Mt. Laguna...

http://mintaka.sdsu.edu/facilities/weather.html

And for those wondering if there is snow up in them thar hills, here is the latest webcame shot from this morning...

Doesn't look like a lot of snow but they got about 4 inches of rain this past weekend so I'm sure it will be REALLY muddy up there this weekend. I drove through on Sunday AM and it was pouring and had been for some time.

Actually looks like more chance of snow this Saturday, so not sure it'll be muddy as much as covered in snow

Looks like due to inclement weather this isn't gonna happen.

Anyone have any other suggestions?
