I rode it yesterday and going again today and yes we cannot get through the baseball field anymore. They added two new gates on either side of the field.

Quickest route is cross the street from the entrance of Canada Vista Park and take the downhill, turn right and cut under the overpass and you will see the beginning of the single track to Chiquita.

How did you get through? I rode it wed and today and both days the new gates on either side were locked.

Yestreday was my first time there, and I was confused as to how to get behind the sportspark, i rode through a gate, directly across the baseball field, and out a small open gate on the other side, opened right onto the trail. i bet it's usually locked and I got lucky.

Ride through the NE field into center field (farthest from parking lot) by riding to the left of the western most dugout and exit the gate in center field, turn right and exit through the cut in the fence by the dogpark.

Also, to help all the trail users out...call the O'Neill ranger and tell them the gate is locked and ask them to unlock it. (949)923-2260 or (949)923-2256 I have talked to them before and they have said that gate should not be locked. I suspect the little league folks lock it so they don't have to pay so much attention to their little toddlers running around during games.

Or email them at O'Neill Park...

John, you still riding this since you got that new gig? I'm out. Sorry Foo. With the VQ/CC looming, I scheduled a "guided" training ride for this day since we can't accomodate everyone on Sat.

Ya the FS really dropped the ball on this and making those shirts we are suppose to wear. Weekends have gone by and we haven't ridden in the closed areas of the Santa Ana's. This is an opportunity for those who have never ridden to the peak from Maple Springs to do so. This whole section is part of the VQ/CC.

Yep - despite the new shoot for Acura and grueling 72 hour/week schedule I am committed to the SS love fest. I will be on a geared biked and needing them gears since I've only ridden once in the last three weeks!

Luckily for me I'm not riding the VQ this year so I'm going to opt for the more FUN Chiquita Ridge ride.

What ever got decided for apres' ride festivities....

Wings

Dailys

or

Taco Mesa

Wings has the best microbrews and a patio overlooking RSM Lake..

Dailys is indoors but has lots of room. OK beer and bar food.

Taco Mesa has great Mexican food and outdoor seating. Mexican beer only.

They are being submitted to the FS today. I will post it on here as soon as I get the word. 2 rides: Sat- Counting Coup Route- Black Star to MW, up to 4 corners, to the peak and down HJ. Sunday- Maple Springs to HJ. There will be 2 more the following weekend, Fri and Sat. All with very limited spots on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Sorry Foo for the thread jack.
