Also, during the previous ride, there was some mention of a connector trail past the 241 toll road to avoid the Oso parkway road ride. The other option is to enter the fire road at the bottom of Oso parkway and hammer up the hill to the left of the fire road.
I've done this ride plenty of times starting at 3 different locations. If we start at the park, we usually drive to Daily's which is just down the street. If we start at the water fall, we park in the at "Friends". We could also start at Daily's lot. From the link that Foo added. it looks like they started at the park. Either way, not much of a road ride. We would come out at the golf course. Where OMR and I got water.

We ate at Rubios in RSM. But there's also Dailys, Friends (both Sports Bars), Beach Fire Grill and Taco Mesa in Ladera.

The route Foo has posted (if that's what gets rode) starts at the Canada Vista Park and ends there too. There are no pavement sections.

Meaning no disrespect...but in my opinion if that short little pavement section we rode last Sunday from Antonio up to Ladera Ridge was too much then the route Foo posted will kill you.

If we want to loop in the Ladera Ridge then the route gets longer and looks more like this. This is no newbie ride. 16 miles and 2000' of climbing. Great route though.

I thought this was a ride for newbie SSers not newbies in general?

And a variation of the above...is this.

Or from Friends a route looks like this. Much longer at 20 miles and 2300' of gain. Alot on a singlespeed I'd guess.

Just get a consensus of how many miles we want to ride and I'll string something nice together. Starting at the Canada Vista Park usually gives the most flexibility...unless we want to so a shuttle.

Thanks for your clarification! Although I've owned a bike for several years and now even ride it once in a while I am a Newbie and will not be attending this ride

I was under the impression a route was choosen for all to enjoy, my mistake

Thanks Duan for posting the ride and I hope to ride with you another time.

Traci, dont sell yourself short girl you're a stronger rider than you think you are. I'll work out a route with John that will be good for all...maybe even do an A group and B group...with everyone regrouping maybe at Ladera Ridge to enjoy waterworks? But 1/2 the reason i set this up so that we can all have fun find out the SS life and enjoy things...not a hammerfest.

Duan - I appreciate your compliments, I really do. But like Alan I too have been off the bike for some time now. I've rode most of this trail more than 1 time and truley did enjoy it. The second time around I even stayed with the group (by far my best ride yet) but that darn fire road killed me & the 107 temp (I know that's not part of this route - thank goodness).

We'll see what route you two come up with, but by all means don't change the route because of me. It's my own fault for taking a 3 month break from my bike.

Traci

ps...Jose I don't want to hear it, I get enough from my lovely hubby

Default A special jersey just for the SS Love Fest

I came across this while looking for new shorts.

I also like this one:

Seem like nice products, anyone familiar with them?

They have sizes XS-4XL - nice for the larger riders.

Traci
Traci, the place where OMR and I went to get the water is where we would come out if we go through the Jungle part of O'Neill. From there, it's just a short downhill ride about 1/4 mile back to the park. You wouldn't have to do that fireroad with all the creek crossongs back to O'Neill.

Default Where is this place?

I may swing down from W.L.A.
How can I mapquest this? Which freeway is it off of? I'm off the 405 and the 90.
Does rain cancel? Does drizzle cancel?
Inquiring minds want to know!
