Default Any group rides for beginners?

I know It sounds dumb. Every one on the board seems like they are all veterans.... does anyone plan rides or want to ride with a beginner? I gotta start somewhere though right?

Anyhow, I live and work in Orange. Anywhere in Orange Country is fine with me to ride. What's up for the weekend?

Pat you did great when you rode with Bret and I at LCWP. You're always welcome to meet us for a ride. There might be some stuff you'll have to walk/hike on but you'll learn how to ride it with experience. It takes years of riding to learn how to ride some technical stuff. Main thing is to be in shape and you'll be fine. Not sure where we are riding this weekend but we'll let you know

yo pat, don't be so hard on yourself man. you did a great job on keeping up with Rob and I when we rode. The singletracks we took you on were pretty technical in many portions and you did a great job for being a "beginner" and never riding those trails before.

im not sure where we are riding this weekend, but i'm gonna ride El Moro this thursday after work around 6ish if ya wanna meet up.

My best advise, ride with better riders. Don't be too proud. If you don't feel comfortable on a technical section, get off the bike and walk. confidence comes with riding, big cajones only brings big scars. I have been riding for about 4 years and I still walk some sections. A friend who did some motorcycle racing told me once: " always ride at 80% of your abilities, that gives you a good safety gap".

If you are available in the evening during the week send me a PM, I would be happy to ride with you.

I didn't mean for my message to come off as a 'help me out' but rather try and get some newer people to the sport riding together. Rob/Bret, there was a two week period where I was just too busy with travelling/work to ride, but, Bret I still got your number. I'll give you a call soon.

Stryker, I live very close to the Orange circle. It's about a 15min drive for me to Santiago Oaks. I recently went there. It's a pretty fun place to ride. I haven't made it up to the chutes yet. Mainly because I didn't know how to get there. What school do you go to? I don't have AIM, but check my messages on this site regularly.

Thanks everyone.

Switchback Cyclery does a beginner group ride on Thursday nights at 6pm. They meet up at the ALbertson's parking lot at Chapman/Jamboree and ususally ride Peter's Canyon.

There is also a Tuesday night ride....but it usually goes to Santiago Oaks and is a faster paced ride.
