The Trail Angels are hosting a mellow Sunday ride featuring the Ladera Ridge and Waterworks singletracks. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at Canada Vista Park in RSM. All Trail Males, spouses and significant others are invited.
The hills are lush and green and the trails are in great condition. The terrain is pretty easy, no steep climbing or descents, but some fun ups and downs. The route: From Canada Vista Park, we will head down Tijeras Creek trail to Oso Parkway, ride briefly up Oso to the start of the Ladera Ridge singletrack, descend the Fire Station trail to Antonio, cross the street to Waterworks, up through the Jungle and Arroyo Trabuco back to the Tijeras Creek Golf Course and cross Antonio back to the park. EDIT: Forget the Jungle and Arroyo Trabuco - I rode it today and discovered that the creek crossings are in bad shape, there's some erosion problems in the Jungle, and the powers-that-be have started an ugly bamboo eradication program in the Jungle. It's a mess down there. After Waterworks we will head up to Oso and pick up the Tijeras Creek trail back to the park. Sorry, no photos from Tuesday's TA ride on this route, but you can see photos of the area from John's recent RR here: RR:Chiquita Ridge Singletracks Here is a map to the starting point: Canada Vista Park Hope to see some STR peeps! |

It's only 12.6 miles (if you trust my Garmin - Eric Foltz's Garmin said a mile farther), but at the mellow pace and no doubt late start (Trail Angels are notorious for starting late), you'll be back to the car around 11:30-12:00.

I'd love to do this ride, esp since I want to explore more of the trails in that area. Only one little conflict, starting at 12:00.

There's still time to get TIVO... Plus there's a bail-out road-ride back to the car option after Waterworks for the truly desperate.
