Got M(i)LK??? Ride at El Moro (1/21) @ 8:30am (meet ridge park)

wow, just found out my company has MLK day off as a holiday (but not presidents day???)

What is an (old) boy to do while his wifey is at work and his son in daycare???? any thoughts, Bueller? Anyone?

Well it occured to me last night as I had a dream and it's this fool is going fo a ride!!!

Probably take my son in to daycare in the am and head over to El Moro fo a chill ride. Thinking I will be rolling around 8:30am on dirt.

Anyone else have the dayoff? All other slackers welcome

I'm off, and might be up for it. Got a route in mind? I agree with guero about the urge to do some mileage. Not sure my quads, knees, back, etc will agree, but it's a noble intention!

me-> Hey guys/gals, glad to see there is some interest in riding and dont want to pop anyones bubble but prob not gonna be a 3 park epic for me on Monday. certainly does not mean u cant get your grind/huck on w/o me (on that day).

As suggested in post was a "chill ride" (edit - just highlighted in red for the visually impaired ) after weekend full of riding (hopefully). Really just trying to get back in shape after DL, etc. Hoping to keep it tame and in El Moro or at least close and not make it all the way to T&A, etc.

I am totally cool if you rather do something bigger (meaning u pass on this) if ride is too mellow or heading on your own adventure at any point of ride but i was thinking something like this route...not sure but expect below is 10-13 miles??? (or we if get a "decent count" can do a/b group??)

parking lot > em canyon > (up) i think i can > moro ride > missing link > (down) elevator > em canyon > (up) slow & easy > fenceline > ride ridge back down to parking lot

or if want to maybe add in old em??? (adds more mileage, duh...maybe 4-5???)

Just park at Ridgepark off of Newport Coast Hwy.

-55 South
-73 South
-Exit MacArthur
-pass Bison and Bonita.
-Left on San Joaquin Hills Rd
-climb thru rich neighborhood (~2 miles)
-Right on Ridge Park
-down small hill, pass fire station (rhs), straight thru intersection (Newport Coast Dr) and up, up, up...stop sign-straight, all the way to cul de sac.

Thanks! Next question, how to I get from the parking area to the place where we meet for the ride? Or, will everyone be meeting there????

if we elect to meet at this parking (Ridge park) we'll just roll from there. it's basically in the top left corner of the park if you look at a trail map.

Another option (someone needs to confirmed) is park at school below main enterance and merely ride up to park as i imagine school is off that day???

I am indifferent to meet/park location as have annual pass but personally prefer to park in lot as have more climb options to start and get the legs going early on

Why don't you just park at the grocery store parking lot on the corner of Ridgepark and Newport Coast. The climb up on Ridgepark is a fun warmup and going back down you reach excess speeds of 50Mph.

FYI if your car is not at least a BMW 5 Series be prepared to be harrased by the cops. The help drives the Benz's. J/K

think Ild rather park by ranger station but sounds like others really prefer ridge park for no cabbage outlay to park so let's just meet there (ridge park) at 8:30am. note: still planning on a chill intermediate ride/pace. will update above for time and rally point

Ridge Park, and an easy pace work for me!

After the ride, we can head down the road to the sceter for grub!

Would love to join y'all, but a sore knee after yesterday's ride is telling to stick to a route where I won't have to climb back up to the car if it gets too uncomfortable. Gonna hit CHSP with KonaDupee instead.

sh!t. hope someone is checking this from ride. my truck is dead (assuming battery). wife already left for work so waiting for roadside assistance for jump and still gotta get the little guy to daycare. Look slike I may be out. atill plan to ride but if you dont see me by 8:30am roll w/o me as I wont have access to board. sorry and have a great ride if i'm not there
