Yeah it was pretty cool but not sure how it looks after the fires. Was going to go up today and check it out with Bajamtnbkr but was too sick to make it out. We are planning on another attempt next weekend if you are interested.

I have not ridden there in about six months, but Hollenbeck is a pretty neat place to ride. It is not really rocky or technical, but is still challenging enough to require ones full attention and effort. It has fireroad climbs most will find challenging but doable, and some nice flowing singletrack.
It would be interesting to see how it looks post-fire. One thing to keep in mind, it gets pretty cold there this time of year, so I would recommend a 9am start time...any earlier and you are liable to have snotcicles. Also, it is not as remote or inconveniently located as it may seem, because it's just a few seconds off Hwy 94. It's about twenty miles from downtown San Diego or SDSU. |
