Default Where's everyone riding this weekend?

I'm thinking of taking my big bike up and down Blackstar on Sunday.

Hey Adam

Did you ride Holy Jim last weekend? How was the road back to Holy Jim? Is it possible to get back there with dry feet?

I'm going to tempt fate and the construction site guards by taking my first post-pneumonia ride up onto the Del Mar and Carmel Mtn mesas to inspect "what's left" of Eucalyptuys trail, the proposed N10 trail connector and the proposed "human powered" trail up from that to the CM preserve. Then, on my way out, I'm going to drop Little Waimea back into PQ to get a good look at trail conditions all over before tomorrows "Committee" meeting with the Rangers and whatnot.

Work can be play.

It was great, but you definitely reach the bottom of HJ with wet feet.

The way back out Trabuco Canyon road is a lot of fun though, passing all the cars on the way out.

Conditions on HJ itself are perfect, although I did get into a little bit of P.O. through the stream crossings.

I though about LCWP also since it's a great tandem bike park. Might still show up there if we don't feel like taking the drive out to Blackstar. Will make the final decision Sunday.

I'd like to try shuttling Mt. Wilson some day. Is there any climbing involved? Just wondering if my 45lb BigHit would be overkill for it or not

There is a little climbing, but nothing too steep or too long. Your bike will be fine. I did it on my DH9 back when I had her, and I know that a ton of guys do it on their M1's and Kona Stinky's and such. I am taking my hardtail up on sunday if you want to come. I just recieved a 2001 Cove GSpot frame today, and will be painting it and building it up over the coming weeks... when she's done I will be taking her up as well.

PM me if you (or anyone else!) wants to shuttle on sunday.

If you don't mind hiking your bike up, then Mt. Lowe is fun too. Hike up to where it meets up with Merrill, and Idlehour and take Merrill down to the ruins... then a short uphill (mostly flat) to Sunset trail. Sunset down to the car. Fun, fast, rocky singletrack!

Cool, Cove frames are nice. I have a Cove Stiffee and it's a great bike for a hardtail. I'll let you know when I'm down for a shuttle ride up there sometime, thanks for the info!

I'm just going to do Los Peñasquitos Canyon tomorrow because I have a crapload to do and it's a few seconds from my house. As long as you're willing to ignore signs telling you not to bike on the singletrack stuff, it's a fun ride. You even get to see a waterfall!

I wouldn't actually plan a trip around the place, though. I just like it because I can ride off the road in my neighborhood and drop into the canyon. Good for a quick fix.
