You can bring the Dos Niner if you want.

I am new to SS'ing. What gear should I run?

Maybe we could do Holy Jim to Trabucco. I heard that is easy...

Depends on the destination. Fully and Santa Rosa you can ride a 32/18 without a problem.

I hear ya and thats why I offer to do the loop!!! if people feel like they can handle it than do San Juan!! but SART is prob better for the noobs (and for me) b/c u can rest inbetween climbs like on the loop!! is only longer and better ride than the loop!!

Wait, so you DON'T like the SS at Fullerton? I'm thinking you and I may have completely different ideas as to what is fun on an SS and what isn't.

a valid point.

Reflux an Shinken: i think Allison's referring to the loop as on the mundane side. not sure what she's referring to for SART as I've never ridden it...

I'm also the freak that enjoys SJT to cocktail rock even when out of shape (that'll pizz off Duan )

I like my SS, but it is my least ridden bike. I may eventually tear down my Enduro as well, but that won't sell (it is beat, and with lifetime warranty, I'll keep it!).

There are other bikes I want to try, so gotta get rid of one of the stable!

If I was a stronger rider I could SS VQ, but I'm not. So, realistically the SS just sits there too often.

Valid points all around.

Is SART also known as the Post Office Ride? It's deep within the 909, right?

It's up near Angelus Oaks. You can start out by riding behind the AO Post Office

It's a great ride.

I voted for SJT, but on second thought, Aliso is probably a better place to go. For a complete newbie, the climbs are steep enough to be a challenge, but short enough to not be discouraging (walking distance to the top of climb isn't so far). Whereas SJT, you're pretty much screwed until you get to within a mile of Cocktail Rock.

SART, on the other hand, might be worth a shot. Although, an out and back from the Post Office to Southfork might be a stretch for a SS newbie to do. In all likelihood, it'll be more like Post Office to Glass road.
