Default Need Fruita Info

Is April too early to ride in Fruita/Grand Junction?

What are the best xc trails in Fruita/Grand Junction?

What is the best lodging in Fruita/Grand Junction?

Any other tips?

Any help is greatly appreciated and will be thanked,

Fruita/GJ are awesome went there leat last two years in the fall. The fat tire festival is in April so it can't be that bad.

Some sites that have helped me out were:

http://www.gjmountainbiking.com/site.html

http://www.fruitamountainbike.com/

http://otesports.com/ (these guys rock, more than willing to help out)

Map: Latitude 40 Fruita/GJ

Trail-wise I would recommend the following:
  • Kokopelli Area in Loma. Mary's, drop down and do the Hosrethief Bench, back up to Mary's, cutoff and do Steve's Loop (poorly marked), reconnect with Mary's, cutoff and do an up and back on Mack's Ridge, quickly connect to Moore Fun Ridge (grunt up), reach high point and descend an amazingly fun Moore's back to your start.
  • Lunch Loops in GJ. I don't know these as well, but I understand they are spectacular.
  • Rabbit Valley Area. Western Rim Trail and the Zion Curtain
  • Bookcliffs/18 Road area. A tad overrated, but fun. In 3 hours you can do most of the trails there. Extremely well marked.
PM me if you need some more info.

Also PM JimN on here. He always has *great* mountain biking routes.

I second the route for the Kokopelli Trails.

Definitely hit up 18 Road trails as well. They aren't technical, but they are amazingly fun. Really shows what you can do with trails!!

I think for the most part you climb up Prime Cut, and then take any of the descents (Zippety Do Dah, Kessell Run, etc.).

We didn't make it over to Grand Junction, but have been itching to go back for more than a year!

Went through there a couple summers ago, unfortunately it was so quick didnt have time to ride If you are into camping though, Colorado National Monument sits up high above the valley overlooking everything around, hella view and nice campground too. Could be pretty cold in April though.

Just from the bits that I've ridden in Fruita, and Grand Junction that I thought were pretty cool..

1. Moore Fun
2. Mack Ridge
3. Holy Cross (GJ)
4. Troy Built

All trails listed above were not too flowy but more slow speed tech, switchbacks, obstacles, little ups, little downs - nothin' big in terms of high vertical gain or loss...

April otta be good too...

Late March/early April can still be cold and sometimes snowy, but it is that tail end of that window. Snowed on us during first week of April.

The folks at OTE will do go by you.

Opp hit it right on .I think the riding in Rabbit valley is the best. Long beautiful rides along the river.
