Default Team Dirty Work Sufferfest-Riverside

***Weather update: This ride is ON rain or shine .....The trails are decomposed granite.....you will not even get mud on your tires........if its too COLD/WET/ and/or WINDY we will probably skip the climb all the way to the top of Box Springs but only ride Sycamore....dress warmly......bring a windbreaker and leg warmers !!!****

Sunday January 6, 2008, 9:00 a.m. meet at BofA parking area on the corner of Canyon Crest/Central in Riverside. 30+ miles 5-7 hr ride time.

Team Dirty Work (TDW) in Riverside has a traditional Beginning of Year Ride where we try to ride most of the best single track trails in and around Sycamore Canyon-Box Springs all in one day.

The first half of the ride will be up and down Box Springs Mountain via the ATM trail. At the top, we will ride the short but fun Hidden Spring Trail and Skyline loop trails, and then down on Two Trees Trail and then back to the parking area on Canyon Crest/Central via UC Riverside. Total mileage for this section 20+ miles, 2,500+ feet elevation gain.

After a nice break we will then ride a loop through Sycamore Canyon where we will hit Little Moab, Terry's Wall, Rattle Snake, and all the other single track trails we know in the park. Total mileage for this section 12+ miles, 3,200+ feet elevation gain.

Total ride mileage: 32+ miles with about 5,700 elevation gain....

Default Just for grins...

No worries about not being able to keep up or holding people back...Team Dirty Work is about fun. No racers here (anymore) that I know of. It will be a great ride at a moderate pace. Come out and enjoy.

I've never ridden on these trails. I'd love to get out of OC this weekend! Any singlespeeds on this ride? Hardtail OK??

I think there will be one or two singlespeeds on the ride. There are a few technical sections here and there, but they can all be ridden with a hardtail. I think that people who either ride or don't ride the obstacles would do the same on either a FS bike or a hardtail.

I'm hoping the weather will be okay, but I plan on riding rain or shine.

I love riding Sycamore Canyon on my SS 29er hardtail. Lots of fun trails and not a heck of a lot of babyheads to kill yourself on.

But wait a minute, didn't the newscasters spend about half their show telling us how we were going to get rains of biblical porportions? I did this ride at the beginning of a year with the Team Dirty Work guys. We finished with "M" trail which was a real treat.

So, I looked at the pictures from your last ride out there, and then saw Roger and Nancy at The Path, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna join ya.

Anyone have an address for the BofA?

Sycamore Canyon Riverslime (oops..Riverside)

I think this is the one he was talking about. It should be a good day out there and we will likely hit some trails that we didn't last time.

Come one, come all.

I went to the ride and rode a mile or two into it, but felt like po-poo so I turned around and came home. First time I've ever bailed on a ride.

Seen Nancy & Roger as I was coming back, they wewre just doing their own ride.

Me too. It was snowing up here in Running Springs. I didn't feel like having to fight the traffic to get back up the hill. It's been snowing off and on all morning. Looking out my back deck, we've got almost a foot so far.

It was raining at 8am so we decided to stay home. The sun came out for a little while so we headed over to Sycamore and managed to get in 1 1/4 hrs before it started to rain again.
