This might be a dumb question, but is the Motorway still open when Maple Springs is closed???

When Maple Springs is closed for the season, Motorway is closed since if you are caught coming out from the gate, the Forest Service personnel have no knowledge if you only came down Motorway and through the last stream, or rode the entire Maple Springs trail.

The good news is that I drove by the gate this morning, and the seasonal closed sign is still not on the gate. According to the two Forest Rangers I spoke with a couple of weeks ago; since the water is still running high and fast, it's not conducive to the toads. Therefore they plan to keep it open to the public until they determine the waters have recided sufficiently to allow the toads to do their thing.

So......as of this afternoon around 3:00pm, Maple Springs was still open.

The best the Rangers could tell me was that if you come to the gate and finally see the "Closed Apr 1 through Sep 30" sign........then it's closed for the season. They had no clear timeframe in mind when the signs might go up.
