I know it's last minute, but if any of you are interested in going to the track, I'll be there!
Practice is from 5:30 to 7:00, and racing begins at about 7:15ish. It's a great way to stay in shape while many of the popular trails are closed, and you dont' have to bring your own lights. http://www.orangeybmx.com/

That's strange...usually they do offer perks when you join such as a couple free practices and a free race or two.
For a 24" cruiser, either 39/17 or 41/18 gearing is good. I just switched to the 41/18 so I can get my chainstay length where I wanted it. For mountain bikes, I seem to like about a 32/16. I also don't have my wheels yet, so I'm just using an old set. I probably won't have them until Jan some time. Rob, with all the deals out there, I'd just pick up a cruiser. Unless you're like Brian Lopes, you're probably faster on a 24" than a 26" (although you were pretty fast on the 26", despite the gearing you said you were using). Rockin, the number on my cruiser is 299.

Me too. I also miss the practice track that used to exist along what is now the Fullerton Loop.
Nonetheless, nothing is stopping you from reliving the old days, right? Quote:
![]() Although, if I remember correctly from the Loop last week, you looked fairly young, so if there are a bunch of cruisers, you may be in the younger class, whereas I'm surely in the old class.

Yes...assuming they have enough riders for a cruiser class (participation diminishes with cooler weather).

Ah man...the pressure is on! I suck as it is (seriously), but it's fun.
BTW, I also plan to go there on Friday night as well, as that is the last points race of the year (until Jan).

Hugh, thanks for coming out! It was good to see you out there. And I seriously think you're contemplating getting a bike. That would be so cool. Oh, his full name is Peter Hoffsaes (may have misspelled it).
Rockinthecasbah, I didn't see you out there (or I didn't identify you, sorry). There was another guy on an mtb, but he didn't know what the heck I was talking about when I asked him if he's from STR.
